Comparing Generative Artificial Intelligence and Mental Health Professionals for Clinical Decision-Making With Trauma-Exposed Populations: Vignette-Based Experimental Study.

BACKGROUND: Trauma exposure is highly prevalent and associated with various health issues. However, health care professionals can exhibit trauma-related diagnostic overshadowing bias, leading to misdiagnosis and inadequate treatment of trauma-exposed populations. Generative artificial intelligence (GAI) models are increasingly used in health care contexts. No research has examined whether GAI demonstrates this bias in decision-making and how rates of this bias may compare to mental health professionals (MHPs). OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess trauma-related diagnostic overshadowing among

Family-school autonomy support for children's responsible use of generative artificial intelligence: a self-determination theory synthesis and developmental research agenda.

Generative artificial intelligence is becoming embedded in children's and adolescents' learning, yet guidance often oscillates between uncritical adoption and restrictive control. This mini review applies self-determination theory to ask how autonomy-supportive guidance from families and schools might foster responsible use, and it audits how far the available evidence can carry that account. Of the 46 primary-data studies reviewed, 35 sampled university students and 8 included participants under 18; 26 were cross-sectional, and none measured family and school inputs in the same participants.

Suicide and self-harm in the age of generative artificial intelligence: The case of ChatGPT and rise of suicide-related lawsuits.

Self-harm and suicide trends have taken a new turn in the era of GenAI and communicative chatbots. Recent OpenAI's own report suggests that 1.2 million weekly ChatGPT users appear to be expressing suicidal thoughts, and 80,000 users are potentially experiencing mania and psychosis. At the same time, OpenAI and other AI companies are facing lawsuits in several countries alleging that their chatbots encouraged vulnerable individuals to harm themselves. These lawsuits have sparked a growing scholarly debate about responsibility, safety, and the ethical use of chatbots in mental health services. G

Evaluating Generative Artificial Intelligence Chatbots in Answering Public Questions About Altered Consciousness: A Comparative Study of Safety, Accuracy, Reliability, and Readability.

INTRODUCTION: People increasingly use generative artificial intelligence chatbots to interpret health concerns before contacting clinicians. Although these systems are not formal autonomous emergency department triage tools, their responses may influence whether and when users seek professional care. Altered consciousness is especially high-risk because delayed or ambiguous escalation can postpone time-sensitive evaluation. This study evaluated the safety and quality of chatbot answers from an emergency nursing perspective. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional comparative evaluation of Cha

Use of generative artificial intelligence and related technologies in clinical nursing education: A qualitative descriptive study of preceptor practices and perspectives.

BACKGROUND: Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly shaping nursing education. Although many studies have examined AI use among nursing faculty and students, little is known about how clinical preceptors, who supervise students in practice settings, understand, perceive, and use these tools. As students and academic faculty increasingly integrate AI into teaching and learning, preceptors may not be adopting AI at the same pace or in the same ways, potentially creating inconsistencies between academic and clinical learning environments. AIM: To explore the shared professional b

Generative Artificial Intelligence to Automate Cerebral Perfusion Mapping in Acute Ischemic Stroke from Non-contrast Head Computed Tomography Images: Pilot Study.

Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is a leading cause of death and long-term disability worldwide, where rapid reperfusion remains critical for salvaging brain tissue. Although CT perfusion (CTP) imaging provides essential hemodynamic information, its limitations-including extended processing times, additional radiation exposure, and variable software outputs-can delay treatment. In contrast, non-contrast head CT (NCHCT) is ubiquitously available in acute stroke settings. This study explores a generative artificial intelligence approach to predict key perfusion parameters (relative cerebral blood flo

Effects of generative artificial intelligence on cognitive effort and task performance: study protocol for a randomized controlled experiment among college students.

BACKGROUND: The advancement of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has shown great potential to enhance productivity in many cognitive tasks. However, concerns are raised that the use of generative AI may erode human cognition due to over-reliance. Conversely, others argue that generative AI holds the promise to augment human cognition by automating menial tasks and offering insights that extend one's cognitive abilities. To better understand the role of generative AI in human cognition, we study how college students use a generative AI tool to support their analytical writing in an educat

Beyond generic principles: a framework for the ethical analysis of artificial intelligence in organ transplantation.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly entering clinical medicine, and organ transplantation is no exception. While a growing body of literature addresses the ethical challenges of AI in healthcare, systematic analysis of the specific ethical dimensions of AI use in organ transplantation is missing. This gap reflects a genuine analytical challenge: the transplantation process is ethically complex in ways that general AI ethics frameworks do not adequately capture. Transplantation medicine simultaneously bears ethical obligations to deceased donors, living donors, donor families, organ re
