Optimising survivorship care in Hodgkin's lymphoma: Aligning practice with Ireland's AYA cancer framework.

BACKGROUND: With increasing numbers of cancer survivors living well beyond treatment, national and international policy strongly emphasises self-management as a core component of survivorship care. Hodgkin's Lymphoma (HL) is one of the most common cancers in Adolescents and Young Adults (AYAs) in Ireland, with five-year overall survival exceeding 95%. However, survivors face a tenfold increased risk of death due to recurrence and late effects, which may emerge up to 20 years post-treatment, often after structured follow-up ends. Supporting self-management is therefore critical to long term hea

A better understanding of the differences between patients and clinicians may optimise management in primary care and improve healing and health outcomes for patients and healthcare spend in society. OBJECTIVE: We explored venous leg ulcer management from patients' and primary care clinicians' perspective, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referral, and health education as outlined in th

Governance of innovation and appropriateness of hospitalization for high-risk pregnancy: the TOCOMAT system.

BACKGROUND: Over the last 30 years, a great increase in the application of technologies in public health, with an undisputed impact on both the effectiveness of performance and the investment and management costs, has occurred. This evidence has induced the development of assessment tools to clarify the relationships among resources, outputs, and outcomes of technological innovations. This analysis was developed in order to examine the use of a telematic system for reporting remotely transmitted cardiotocographic traces, specifically (1) its impact on the health organization and on the appropr

Changes in health literacy following participation in a multidisciplinary primary care intervention for people with chronic pain: a longitudinal cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Chronic pain is a global public health issue, severely affecting quality of life, functional capacity, and healthcare resources. Effective management requires adequate health literacy, yet limited health literacy is associated with greater pain burden and poorer outcomes. This underlines the need for interventions that can strengthen patients' health literacy skills. Thus, the aim of the present study was to investigate longitudinal changes in health literacy following participation in a multidisciplinary primary care pain management intervention. METHODS: This longitudinal study

Digital health technologies for high-risk pregnancy management: three case studies using Digilego framework.

OBJECTIVE: High-risk pregnancy (HRP) conditions such as gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), hypertension (HTN), and peripartum depression (PPD) affect maternal and neonatal health. Patient engagement is critical for effective HRP management (HRPM). While digital technologies and analytics hold promise, emerging research indicates limited and suboptimal support offered by the highly prevalent pregnancy digital solutions within the commercial marketplace. In this article, we describe our efforts to develop a portfolio of digital products leveraging advances in social computing, data science, an

SISMAMA--implementation of an information system for breast cancer early detection programs in Brazil.

As national health systems seek to apply breast cancer screening recommendations to an entire population of women (within target age ranges for which there is evidence that screening reduces mortality), the volume of screening tests and resulting diagnostic investigations arising from abnormal test results-and the cost associated with them-will grow dramatically. Population-based early detection (screening) programs will need information systems and management tools to help these programs. This report describes Brazil's highly decentralized health care system and then describes in greater deta

Managing Infodemics in Africa: The Role of the Africa Infodemic Response Alliance (AIRA) in Advancing Theory and Practice During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The context of COVID-19 in the African continent presents a unique blend of challenges and resilience. Compared to other regions, Africa reported lower case numbers and mortality rates, but it still faced significant health system, economic, and social disruptions. By June 2023, the 47 countries of the WHO African Region had recorded 9.5 million confirmed COVID-19 cases and over 175,000 deaths, though under-reporting due to limited testing was likely. The COVID-19 pandemic in Africa was accompanied by an infodemic - an overabundance of information, including false or misleading content, which
