Acquired lens colobomas secondary to ocular surgeries are scarcely described in the literature. We describe two cases of acquired lens coloboma in two infants with glaucoma who underwent ocular surgery. The coloboma in the first case was likely because of direct trauma to the lens zonules during an optical iridectomy with a vitrectomy cutter, resulting in localized loss of zonules and consequently localized lens coloboma. A 20-year-old woman was noted to have progressive cataractous changes in the left eye for two years. Ophthalmic examination showed a yellow-pink mass in the iris root (between the 8- to 10- o'clock positions, facing the patient). No associated colobomatous defect was present. A sector iridectomy with partial cyclectomy was performed. Histopathologically the mass, which was composed of an admixture of glial cells and neurons, was diagnosed as glioneuroma. It was believed the tumor had been incompletely excised at the posterior margin of surgical resection. No additional therapy was instituted.

Acute angle-closure glaucoma complicating ciliochoroidal detachment developed in eight eyes of six patients. The clinical presentation was uniform: extremely shallow central anterior chamber depth, flat peripheral anterior chamber, closed angle, and elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). PURPOSE: Presentation of two cases of malignant glaucoma following filtration surgery.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Two patients with primary angle closure glaucoma has been treated with trabeculectomy. Flat anterior chamber, elevated IOP and the presence of patent irydectomy has been diagnosed 1 and 5 weeks after operation respectively. First patient in spite of peripheral irydectomy, medication and pars plana vitrectomy had high IOP and flat anterior chamber and has lost her sight. We analyzed the long-term results after argon laser peripheral iridotomy in 98 eyes of 54 patients with primary angle closure glaucoma. During a mean follow-up period of about five years, visual acuity, intraocular pressure, medication changes, and the need for filtration surgery or cataract surgery were used to evaluate the amount of possible damage that had resulted from laser iridotomy.
