An 82-year-old woman presented with a right breast lump with erythematous reaction of the overlying skin and corresponding lymph nodes. Cytological examination of the breast lesion and lymph nodes suggested a lymphoid proliferation. Frozen section revealed carcinoma with lymphoid stroma. Over an 11-year period in one surgeon's practice, mammary duct ectasia constituted 5.5 per cent of all breast diseases treated by operation. Twelve West African men with carcinoma of the breast were treated at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital over a ten-year period, 1971-1980. These cases represent 2.4% of both male and female breast carcinomas treated at the hospital. The mean age was 56.3 years. The left breast was involved 11 times more often than the right. We report the case of a 77-year-old man with a very rare breast tumor: hemangioma. The clinical examination found a large (6 cm diameter) lump and mammography revealed a well-defined high-density lesion with lobulated contour. Simple mastectomy was performed.
