Carboplatin (CBDCA; NSC 241240) is a second-generation platinum coordination compound which in preclinical testing was found to be less nephrotoxic and emetogenic than cis-diamminedichloroplatinum (CDDP), while retaining a broad spectrum of antitumor activity. Treatment with low doses (1/10 of LD50) of cisplatin and platinum (IV)-nitroxyl complex VS118 [e-ammin-d-(4-amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl)-a,f-bi s(acetate)-b,c-dichlorplatinum (IV)] was followed by a synergistic therapeutic effect (a 100% cure of animals) as compared with monotherapy with either drug. FOLFOX (folinic acid, 5-fluorouracil, and oxaliplatin) chemotherapy regimen is a widely used chemotherapy agent for the management of gastrointestinal malignancies. FOLFOX has been linked to various toxicities including peripheral neurotoxicity. We report a case of central neurotoxicity demonstrated clinically and radiographically within 24 h of FOLFOX administration in a patient with metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma. We further review these clinical and radiographic characteristics to help guide treatment and management of these patients.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) with peritoneal metastases is a complex disease and its management presents significant clinical challenges. In well-selected patients at experienced centers, CRS/hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) can be performed with acceptable morbidity and is associated with prolonged survival. The purpose is to compare the clinical efficacy and toxicity of etoposide plus lobaplatin (EL) or etoposide plus cisplatin (EP) with concurrent thoracic radiotherapy during the treatment of limited-stage small cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC). Forty-two patients with LS-SCLC were randomly divided into EL ( n = 19) or EP ( n = 23) regimens combined with thoracic intensity-modulated radiotherapy. The primary endpoint was 1-year progression-free survival (PFS) rate. The 1-, 2-, and 3-year PFS rates in the EL and EP cohorts were 50.8, 38.1, and 12.7%; and 56.5, 43.5, and 29.0%, respectively ( P = 0.527)

We investigated the safety and efficacy of UDON(5-FU, docetaxel and nedaplatin), a similar DCF therapy, as neoadjuvant chemotherapy for advanced esophageal cancer. Twelve patients who underwent radical esophagectomy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy for esophageal cancer at our department from June 2021 to December 2022 were retrospectively evaluated.
