Signs, symptoms, metastatic spread and metabolic behavior of neuroblastomas treated in Denmark during the period 1943-1980.

The clinical manifestations of 253 neuroblastoma cases in childhood, treated in Denmark from 1943 to 1980, were reviewed. Most striking was the vagueness of symptoms in the majority of patients, only a few of whom exhibited the symptoms strongly suggestive of a neuroblastoma (i.e. the Horner syndrome, the watery diarrhoea syndrome, the dancing eye syndrome). The vagueness of the symptoms might have led to fatal procrastination of the diagnosis. The diagnostic delay has, however, no independent prognostic significance for survival in our patients (p = 0.09). The maximal tumour spread was record

A critical narrative synthesis of psychological correlates, measurement, and reported findings on conversational AI engagement and dependence-related constructs.

Conversational AI systems are used for task support, cognitive offloading, companionship, self-disclosure, and mood regulation. Research on these uses is distributed across trust, reliance, attachment, companionship, problematic use, and dependence, although these labels refer to different processes. This article presents a critical narrative synthesis of 51 peer-reviewed records retained from a curated working bibliography of 56 items. The corpus was assembled iteratively through database searching and citation chasing during 2025 and early 2026. Complete search histories and duplicate-remova

Assessing the psychological factors associated with vaccine hesitancy: psychometric properties of the psychological factors in healthcare behavior questionnaire (PF-HBQ).

INTRODUCTION: Health-related decision-making is influenced by a complex interplay of cognitive, emotional, and personality-related factors. Psychological characteristics such as distress, personality traits, and maladaptive cognitive patterns play a central role in shaping how individuals perceive medical information, engage with healthcare systems, and adhere to health-related recommendations. Understanding these determinants is essential for clarifying individual differences in healthcare behaviors and for informing effective interventions in clinical and public health contexts. The present

Cannabis consumption and problematic internet use: analysis of a free-text response collected through a self-reported online questionnaire.

BACKGROUND: Cannabis, the most consumed illicit drug globally, has been legal for non-medical use in Canada since 2018. Problematic internet use is considered a behavioral addiction involving excessive online activities (e.g., social media, video watching), which can cause social isolation, family issues, psychological distress, and even suicide ideation. Studies mainly conducted with adolescents indicate a link between cannabis use disorder and problematic internet use. METHODS: This exploratory study with a qualitative component aims to investigate the experiences of adult cannabis users in

Use of "R&R" for Medical Students and Physicians with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: A Conceptual Framework.

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is an increasingly recognized yet under-addressed challenge within the medical profession, affecting medical students and physicians (including residents and faculty). While current literature emphasizes high rates of depression, anxiety, and burnout in these groups, ADHD - despite its persistence into adulthood and its impact on academic, clinical, and interpersonal functioning - receives comparatively less attention. Reported ADHD prevalence among medical students, residents, and practicing physicians varies widely and may be underestimated due

Enablers and barriers toward home-based resistance exercise among older adults who completed a structured program: qualitative study using reflexive thematic analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Sarcopenia is associated with many adverse outcomes such as cardiac and respiratory diseases and mobility issues which in turn may lead to the decreased quality of life and loss of independence. Resistance exercise is recommended for older adults to both prevent and treat sarcopenia. However, very few older adults participate in such exercise. Thus, this study aims to explore enablers and barriers toward home-based resistance exercise (include both body weight and resistance band) for older adults. METHODS: A subgroup of 10 participants aged 60 years and over (5 male and 5 female

A multicentre roadmap to restart elective cardiac surgery after COVID-19 peak in an Italian epicenter.

BACKGROUND: During the Italian Phase-2 of the coronavirus pandemic, it was possible to restart elective surgeries. Because hospitals were still burdened with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, it was focal to design a separate "clean path" for the surgical candidates and determine the possible effects of major surgery on previously infected patients. METHODS: From May to July 2020 (postpandemic peak), 259 consecutive patients were scheduled for elective cardiac surgery in three different centers. Our original roadmap with four screening steps included: a short item questionnaire (S

U.S. farm women's participation in breast cancer screening practices.

BACKGROUND: Surveys of women in the general population indicate that women are being screened for breast cancer at a much lower rate than recommended. There has been a concern that women living in rural areas may be screened for breast cancer even less often than women in urban or suburban areas because of reduced access to health practitioners. METHODS: A random sample of farm women age 40 years or older from 4 rural counties in Michigan was surveyed on knowledge, attitudes, and use of breast cancer screening. RESULTS: Six hundred eighty farm women completed a questionnaire. This was a resp

Nomophobia in Nursing Students: Psychological, Academic, and Clinical Impacts-An Integrative Review.

Background/Objectives: Nomophobia, the irrational fear of being without a mobile phone, is increasingly prevalent among university students and has emerged as a concerning form of digital dependence. Among nursing students, this condition is particularly relevant due to the emotional demands and cognitive challenges of healthcare education. Nomophobia has been linked with adverse psychological outcomes, sleep disturbances, and impaired academic and clinical performance. However, existing evidence remains fragmented and lacks an integrated conceptual synthesis. This review aimed to synthesize c

[Girls are more successful than boys at the university. Gender group differences in models integrating motivational and aggressive components correlated with Test-Anxiety].

It is surprising to note the evolution of success rates in Belgian universities especially in the first Year. Men are less successful than women and the differences are escalating in an alarming way. Dropouts take the same direction and women now represent a majority of the students at the university. In a previous study, we assessed 616 students in the first Year at the university of Liège with Vasev, the English name of which was TASTE, a self report questionnaire constituted of 4 factors: anxiety, self confidence, procrastination and performance value; anxiety particularly concerned somatic

[Women and HIV/AIDS: stormy beginnings].

Following the transfusion of a young woman with two units of blood infected by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) during a Cesarean section performed at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit of Port-Royal Hospital in Paris in 1984, the author realized the danger that this virus would represent for women and their children, at a time when the infection seemed to be confined to homosexuals, drug addicts, hemophiliacs and transfusion recipients. He was confronted with a whole series of issues, including the rejection of HIV-positive women; the need for special precautions in the labor room and opera
