We report a case of ocular drug toxicity consistent with bilateral Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) like disease in a patient with cutaneous melanoma treated with Dabrafenib/Trametinib therapy. A 53-year-old man with a history of metastatic cutaneous melanoma, treated with Dabrafenib/Trametinib, developed a severe acute panuveitis with granulomatous anterior uveitis and multiple serous retinal detachments. A mild and user-friendly one-pot oxidative cleavage of vicinal diols to their corresponding (di)carboxylic acids using AZADOs and PhI(OAc)(2) is described. 1,2-Diols and 2,3-diols as well as 1,2,3-triol gave one- or two-carbon-unit-shorter carboxylic acids. Internal vicinal diols also smoothly underwent one-pot oxidative cleavage to afford the corresponding dicarboxylic acids. Rapid evolution and development in the treatment strategy of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) has taken place in the last decade. The preparation and the solvatochromic behavior of two dyes, obtained by condensation of N,N'-dimethylbarbituric acid with dimethylaminobenzaldehyde and with 4,4'-bis(N,N-dimethylamino)benzophenone (Michler's ketone) are described. The latter dye is rather sensitive to the polarity of the medium, and in particular, to the hydrogen-bond-donor ability of protic solvents. The solvatochromism of both compounds is discussed in terms of the pi* and E(T)(30) solvent polarity scales and their differences in behavior interpreted with the aid of semiempirical calculations.

Capillary malformation-arteriovenous malformation (CM-AVM) syndrome is an autosomal dominant condition characterized by multifocal, noncontiguous pink patches on the skin that often have a surrounding pale halo. In some cases, an association with a fast flow, arteriovenous malformation (AVM) can be identified. Dihydropyrimidinones (DHPMs) are a series of highly valuable small molecules possessing versatile pharmaceutical properties. Although the first one-pot synthesis of DHPMs had been reported more than 100 years ago, the fascinating achievement in DHPMs-based pharmacology during the past century promoted durative interests to the pharmacological and related studies of the scaffold, which lead to the discovery of many new biological functions of DHPMs. Recent pharmacological development on DHPMs-based molecules have been summarized in this review.

4-Substituted-pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4(1H)-ones 4a-c were synthesized by oxidation of 4-substituted-dihydropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4(1H)-ones 3a-c which were in turn prepared from arylidenemalononitriles 1a-c and 6-aminothiouracil 2. Changes in the concentrations of vicine, convicine and L-DOPA in two cultivars of Vicia faba L. seeds in different stages of pod development were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The vicine and convicine content was highest in fresh green cotyledons (moisture content about 80%) and gradually declined until a constant level was reached when seed dry matter percentage was around 40%.
