INTRODUCTION: Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is one of the most common infections after solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Typically, ganciclovir or valganciclovir have been used for first-line therapy, with foscarnet and cidofovir being used for resistant or refractory infections. Maribavir was recently approved as a novel CMV therapeutic for transplant recipients.

BACKGROUND: Ribonucleotide reductase (RR) consists of two subunits, the large subunit RRM1 and the small subunit (RRM2 or RRM2B), which is essential for DNA replication. Dysregulations of RR were implicated in multiple types of cancer. However, the abnormal expressions and biologic functions of RR subunits in liver cancer remain to be elucidated.
METHODS: TCGA, HCCDB, CCLE, HPA, cBioPortal, and GeneMANIA were utilized to perform bioinformatics analysis of RR subunits in the liver cancer. GO, KEGG, and GSEA were used for enrichment analysis.

In recent years, the field of glomerulonephritis has become more accessible not only to physicians who need to understand and recognize these conditions, but also to patients who now have new treatment options available to them. For glomerulonephritis with a membranoproliferative phenotype, a better understanding of the pathophysiology has led to a new classification, enabling more targeted diagnosis; in addition, two new active ingredients have been approved for specific treatment.

We describe a patient who presented with polymyositis with anti-Jo-1 antibodies at 18 years after the onset of rheumatoid arthritis and was successfully treated with the immunosuppressive drug mizoribine at the time of exacerbation. Tolerance and antiviral effect of ribavirin was studied in 6 patients with Argentine hemorrhagic fever (AHF) of more than 8 days of evolution. Administration of ribavirin resulted in a neutralization of viremia and a drop of endogenous interferon titers. The average time of death was delayed. A reversible anemia was the only adverse effect observed. Eight patients with hairy-cell leukaemia (HCL) complicated by pancytopenia were treated with low dose regimens of the adenosine deaminase (ADA) inhibitor 2'-deoxycoformycin (DCF). L cell nuclear preparations were shown to transcribe RNA for periods up to 1 h at 37 degrees C. HaM/ICR females mice (20 to 25 g), infected with from 3 to 5 Fasciola hepatica metacercariae per os, were treated with a single dose of thepurine nucleoside analog tubercidin (7-deaza-adenosine; Tu) 7, 14, 21, and 28 days postexposure.Tu was administered either by direct intravenous injection or intraerythrocytically. Most of the flukes were killed and host survival rates were markedly increased if treatment was started within 3 weeks postexposure. The minimal single intravenous dose of Tu that was maximally effective was between 10 and 20 mg/kg.
