Compartment syndrome of the thigh in children is rare. We report a case of compartment syndrome of the thigh in an infant with a femur fracture resulting from suspected nonaccidental trauma. The delayed presentation of this injury may have been contributory to the development of compartment syndrome. The subtle physical findings in this case underscore the need for a high index of suspicion in making the diagnosis of compartment syndrome. We report a rare case of fibrosarcoma of the thigh suspected prenatally. At 27 weeks of gestation a voluminous, vascularised mass was discovered at ultrasound on the foetus' left leg, suggestive of haemangioma or a fibrosarcoma. There were no signs of heart failure. The lateral thigh free flap is a fasciocutaneous flap based on the cutaneous perforators of the deep femoral vessels. Although originally described in 1983, it has had very few reports in the literature. This article describes the flap and reports our findings and outcomes in nine cadavers (18 thighs) and 33 clinical cases. The position of the vascular pedicle may vary in each case but has always been found to be present. Successful transfer occurred in 30 of 33 cases. This study was aimed at studying the normal morphology of the main extrapelvic trunk of the sciatic nerve, its average size and its anatomo-topographic relationships by means of high resolution US. Twenty-one compartment syndromes of the thigh in seventeen patients were identified for retrospective review. Diabetic myonecrosis is an uncommon complication of poorly controlled diabetes mellitus.
