The 6G integrated perception and networking technology enables the low-altitude economy to achieve carbon neutrality: Dynamic sleep strategy for eVTOL wireless charging based on time-energy-carbon coupling.

In response to the bottleneck issues of energy consumption and carbon emissions caused by the explosive growth of the low-altitude economy, we break away from the traditional single-machine energy-saving research paradigm and innovatively reconfigure the sixth-generation mobile communication (6G) perception-integration base station into a "power-information" dual-mode supply node that can enter a dormant state. The time-energy-carbon ternary coupling model (TEC-6G) was constructed, and the collaborative trade-off mechanism of the base station sleep ratio, the pointing angle of the microwave en

Effects of oenological tannins on aroma release and perception of oxidized and non-oxidized red wine: A dynamic real-time in-vivo study coupling sensory evaluation and analytical chemistry.

Addition of oenological tannins claims to have a positive impact on wine stability, protection from oxidation and likely sensory persistence. However, their role on red wine aroma during oxidation is controversial. The present study aims at investigating the effect of addition of oenological tannins on wine flavour (mainly aroma) before and after air exposure. Temporal Dominance of Sensations, a dynamic sensory evaluation, was coupled with a dynamic chemical measurement (nosespace analysis) using a Proton-Transfer-Reaction Mass-Spectrometer connected to the nasal cavity of 17 assessors. Improved observer dependent perception of weak edges when scanning an image in real time indicated by introducing 1/f noise into the primary visual cortex V1. Theory and experimental support.

We present results of a new process for generating 1/f type noise sequences and introducing the noise in the primary visual cortex which then enables improved perception of weak edges when an observer is scanning a complex image in real time to detect detail such as in mammogram reading sessions. It can be explained by an adaptation of information theory for functional rather than previous task-based methods for formulating processes for edge formation in early vision. This is enabled from a two "species" classification of the interaction of opposing on-centre and off-centre neuron processes.

'Blood pressure can kill you tomorrow, but HIV gives you time': illness perceptions and treatment experiences among Malawian individuals living with HIV and hypertension.

Non-communicable diseases like hypertension are increasingly common among individuals living with HIV in low-resource settings. The prevalence of hypertension among people with HIV in Malawi, e.g. has been estimated to be as high as 46%. However, few qualitative studies have explored the patient experience with comorbid chronic disease. Our study aimed to address this gap by using the health belief model (HBM) to examine how comparative perceptions of illness and treatment among participants with both HIV and hypertension may affect medication adherence behaviours. We conducted semi-structured

"Our program manager is a woman for the first time": perceptions of health managers on what workplace policies and practices exist to advance women's career progression in the health sector in Kenya.

BACKGROUND: Existing evidence suggests that organisation-level policies are important in enabling gender equality and equity in the workplace. However, there is little research exploring the knowledge of health sector employees on whether policies and practices to advance women's career progression exist in their organisations. In this qualitative study, we explored the knowledge and perspectives of health managers on which of their organisations' workplace policies and practices contribute to the career advancement of women and their knowledge of how such policies and practices are implemente

Youth's perception of parental limitation of youth screen time is associated with lower odds of nicotine vaping among US youth: Results from the 2024 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH).

BACKGROUND: Youth media exposure is associated with vaping, while parental limitation of youth screen time may be associated with lower odds of youth vaping. Using nationally representative survey data, this study examines these relationships. METHODS: We used youth (aged 12-17) data from the 2024 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (N = 11,334) and defined past-month nicotine vaping as a binary variable (yes/no). Past-year youth's perception of parental limitation of youth screen time (television, tablets, smartphones, computers, and video games) was categorized as never, seldom, sometime

"I'd feel like someone was watchin' me… watching for a good reason": perceptions of data privacy, access, and sharing in the context of real-time PrEP adherence monitoring among HIV-negative MSM with substance use.

Once-daily oral tenofovir/emtricitabine is highly effective as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) against HIV but is dependent on adherence, which may be challenging for men who have sex with men (MSM) and use substances. Digital pill systems (DPS) permit the direct, real-time measurement of adherence, though user perceptions of data privacy in this context are unknown. Thirty prospective DPS users - HIV-negative MSM with non-alcohol substance use - completed in-depth qualitative interviews exploring preferences around privacy, access, and sharing of DPS adherence data. Participants discussed som

New graduate nurse competencies-Part II: Thematic analysis of the perceptions of academic faculty and acute care hospital practice leaders at the time of new graduate nurse hire and upon completing a 12-month nurse residency program.

BACKGROUND: The various educational pathways to obtain an entry-level nursing degree facilitate a diverse workforce. However, they also create confusion among practice leaders about the competency-level expectations of newly graduated nurses (NGNs). Establishing a clear understanding of the essential core competencies hospital practice leaders can expect of all NGNs, regardless of the type of nursing prelicensure degree program, upon starting their professional practice, and at the end of a 12-month nurse residency program (NRP) will contribute to their ongoing growth and development. Temporal Window of Integration XOR Temporal Window of Synchrony.

One of the most extensively studied constructs in multisensory research is the temporal window of integration. Its extent has been variously estimated by measuring the temporal boundaries within which stimuli in different sensory modalities are perceived as simultaneous or elicit multisensory integration effects. However, there is ample evidence that these two approaches produce distinct psychometric outcomes, as the widths of the windows they yield differ even when estimated with equivalent designs and stimuli. In fact, these two estimates can sometimes even be negatively correlated. What is

Multisensory Integration Is Modulated by Hypnotizability.

This study investigated multisensory integration in 29 medium-to-high (mid-highs) and 24 low-to-medium (mid-lows) hypnotizable individuals, classified according to the Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale, Form A. Participants completed a simultaneity judgment (SJ) task, where an auditory and a visual stimulus were presented in close proximity to their body in a range of 11 stimulus onset asynchronies. Results show that mid-highs were prone to judge audiovisual stimuli as simultaneous over a wider range of time intervals between sensory stimuli, as expressed by a broader temporal binding win

Static background distance modulates reaction time and interceptive timing for approaching targets in a real three-dimensional environment.

Rapid and accurate processing of approaching objects is critical for everyday activities and sports. Environmental context in three-dimensional (3D) space provides depth that may modulate visuomotor responses to motion in depth, yet its influence on rapid motor reactions and temporal prediction remains unclear. This study examined whether static background distance affects reaction time (RT) and interceptive timing for approaching targets in a real 3D environment. Fourteen participants completed RT and interceptive tasks with backgrounds positioned 0.6 m (near), 4 m (middle), and 8 m (far) fro

Confusion of space and time in the flash-lag effect.

The apparent lagging of a short flash in the relation to a moving object, the flash-lag effect (FLE), has so far been measured mainly in terms of illusory spatial offset. We propose a method of measuring the perceived temporal asynchrony of the FLE separately from its perceived spatial offset. We presented a moving stimulus that changed its colour at a certain moment. The observer indicated, in two different tasks, where and when the colour change occurred in relation to a stationary reference flash. Results show that the perceived time of the colour change was not congruent with the perceived

How time gets spatial: factors determining the stability and instability of the mental time line.

Left-to-right readers classify faster past events with motor responses on the left side of space and future events with responses on the right side. This suggests a left-to-right spatial organization in the mental representation of time. Here, we show that the significance and reliability of this representation are linked to the joint use of temporal and spatial codes in the task at hand. In a first unimanual Go/No-Go Implicit Association Test (IAT), attending selectively to "past" or to "future" words did not activate corresponding "left" or "right" spatial concepts and vice versa.
