INTRODUCTION: Studying post-vaccination side effects and identifying the reasons behind low vaccine uptake are pivotal for overcoming the pandemic.
METHODS: This cross-sectional study was distributed through social media platforms and face-to-face interviews. Data from vaccinated and unvaccinated participants were collected and analyzed using the chi-square test, multivariable logistic regression to detect factors associated with side effects and severe side effects.
RESULTS: Of the 3509 participants included, 1672(47.6%) were vaccinated. The most common reason for not taking the vaccine was

INTRODUCTION: Uptake of COVID-19 vaccination remains suboptimal in the United States and other settings. Though early reports indicated that a strong majority of people were interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, the association between vaccine intention and uptake is not yet fully understood. Ourobjective was todescribe predictors of vaccine uptake, and estimate the sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values of self-reported COVID-19 vaccine status compared to a comprehensive statewide COVID-19 vaccine registry.

People in United States (US) prisons and jails have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is due to challenges containing outbreaks in facilities and the high rates of health conditions that increase the risk of adverse outcomes. Vaccination is one strategy to disrupt COVID-19 transmission, but there are many factors impeding vaccination while in custody. We aimed to examine the perspectives of former residents in the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) regarding COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy and acceptance. Between September-October 2021, we conducted semi-structured interv

BACKGROUND: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination hesitancy is a threat as COVID-19 vaccines have reduced both viral transmission and virus-associated mortality rates, particularly in high-risk subgroups. Solid organ transplant recipients (SOTRs) are particularly vulnerable, as the underlying causes of their organ failure and the chronic immunosuppression are associated with a lower immune response to COVID-19 vaccines, and with an excessive risk of death due to SARS-CoV-2 infection. We aimed to evaluate COVID-19 vaccination hesitancy and its reasons in a population of SOTRs.

Vaccine hesitancy or lack of confidence in vaccines is considered a threat to the success of vaccination programs. The rise and spread of measles outbreaks in southern Africa in 2009-2010 were linked to objections among Apostolic Church members, estimated at about 3.5 million in Zimbabwe as of 2014. To inform planning of interventions for a measles-rubella vaccination campaign, we conducted an assessment of the factors contributing to vaccine hesitancy using data from various stakeholders. Among nine districts in three regions of Zimbabwe, we collected data on religious attitudes toward, and p

AimVaccinations are essential to ensure protection for healthcare professionals, patients and communities. However, vaccination hesitancy has been reported among healthcare professionals. Nurses are the main, first and direct point of contact for patients and citizens in most healthcare services, but only a minority of studies investigated vaccination hesitancy and uptake specifically in this population. Thus, this study aimed to explore the determinants and motivations of vaccination hesitancy and uptake among nurses.DesignSystematic review with a narrative synthesis approach.MethodsWe includ

BACKGROUND: HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is an effective biomedical prevention strategy, but uptake remains low among key populations, raising concerns about PrEP hesitancy. This review examines the relevance of the 5C Vaccine Hesitancy Framework in explaining psychosocial and contextual factors influencing PrEP hesitancy.
OBJECTIVE: To apply the 5C Vaccine Hesitancy Framework to better understand reasons for PrEP hesitancy.
METHOD: A systematic search was conducted in May 2025 across PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Sage Journal. English-language studies published between 2010 and

BACKGROUND: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has had a profound global impact. Vaccination remains a key strategy for controlling transmission and reducing morbidity and mortality. However, vaccine hesitancy poses a significant public health challenge, particularly in low- and middle-income settings. This study assessed COVID-19 vaccine acceptability and the determinants of vaccine hesitancy among adults in Lagos State, Nigeria. METHODS: A cross-sectional, community-based study was conducted among 854 adults selected t

BACKGROUND: In conflict-afflicted regions like Ukraine, disrupted health services, displacement, and logistical disturbances have compromised immunization and trust, underscoring the need to understand behavioral, access, and conflict dynamics for resilient strategies.
OBJECTIVE: To simulate the interaction between behavioral, structural, and social variables in predicting changes in vaccination beliefs and uptake in war-impacted Ukraine.
METHODS: We conducted a geographically diverse cross-sectional survey across 557 Ukrainian hromadas (local communities) during the ongoing war to assess va

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Undergraduate medical education provides limited formal training on vaccine hesitancy. This study evaluated a student-led workshop for third-year medical students on vaccine hesitancy, emphasizing historical mistrust in Black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities and strategies to build confidence in addressing it.
METHODS: During a family medicine clerkship rotation, 158 students completed a 90-minute workshop on vaccine hesitancy. The session addressed systemic racism and introduced three evidence-based communication tools, followed by role-play pra

BACKGROUND: Lactating people experiencing SARS-CoV-2 infection encounter physical, emotional, and psychosocial challenges during the postpartum period compared to the general population. Despite the importance of COVID-19 vaccination globally, campaigns aimed at vaccinating at-risk populations, including pregnant and lactating people (PLP), have faced challenges, leading to a low uptake among PLP. The objectives of this study are to discover lactating people's perceptions toward COVID-19 vaccination uptake and to explore facilitators and barriers that inform their COVID-19 vaccination decision

BACKGROUND: Vaccine hesitancy, amplified by the COVID-19 "infodemic," has emerged as a pressing public health challenge. Communication strategies are pivotal for enhancing vaccine literacy, countering misinformation, and sustaining immunization programs.
OBJECTIVE: This systematic review evaluates the association between communication channels and vaccine hesitancy and adherence, while examining the moderating role of sociodemographic factors.
METHODS: A PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses)-compliant search was conducted across PubMed, Scopus, and Web o

Data were collected in 2025 through household interviews using an adapted and previously validated form. Knowledge was assessed using six questions and classified as low, moderate, or high. BACKGROUND: HPV related tumors continue to be a global leading cause of cancer mainly due to cervical cancer (CC) burden. In Brazil, CC is the third most common cancer and the fourth highest cancer mortality rate among women. HPV vaccine mass immunization represents the current most promising intervention for CC prevention. It was first implemented in the Brazilian public health system in 2014, however, despite a history of excellent coverage for other vaccines, HPV vaccine uptake is below the necessary threshold for CC elimination. Identifying the factors that influence HPV vaccine hesitancy

BACKGROUND: Vaccine hesitancy has gained heightened relevance amid the COVID-19 pandemic, underscoring the urgency of understanding its determinants. This study explores the association between Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy, mental health variables and inflexible thinking.
METHODS: A convenience sample of 252 UK adults was assessed online between June 2021-July 2022 (when Covid-19 lockdown restrictions had finally eased). We assessed participants using the Oxford Covid Vaccine Hesitancy Scale (OCVHS), various aspects of mental health, using: the Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory-Revised (OCI-R), Co
