The anaerobic bioremediation of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) is largely impeded by difficulties in massively enriching PCB dechlorinators in short periods of time. Tetrachloroethene (PCE) is often utilized as an alternative electron acceptor to preenrich PCB-dechlorinating bacteria.
