Bisphenol analogues, including bisphenol F (BPF) and bisphenol S (BPS), are increasingly used as alternatives to bisphenol A (BPA), yet their potential olfactory effects remain poorly understood. In this study, adult zebrafish (Danio rerio) were exposed to environmentally relevant concentrations (5 μg/L) of BPF and BPS for 28 days to investigate their impacts on the olfactory system. Histopathological assessment revealed changes in olfactory epithelial morphology, particularly in the BPF-exposed group. Transcriptomic analysis identified 3260 and 1602 differentially expressed genes in BPF and B

The health risks associated with exposure to polystyrene nanoplastics (PS-NPs) and bisphenol A (BPA) are a recognized global concern, yet their individual and combined toxic effects on the mammalian thyroid remain poorly defined. This integrated in vivo and in vitro study demonstrates that in mice, four-week exposure to PS-NPs alone induced dose-dependent thyroid hormone disruption and structural damage, while co-exposure with BPA resulted in clearly exacerbated injury, indicating an additive toxic interaction. This additive effect was characterized by markedly worsened histopathology and a di

PURPOSE: Increasing levels of infertility in Western countries has drawn ever more scientific attention to the role in this trend of endocrine disruptors, such as bisphenol A, a substance now banned in some cases and some countries. Because this substance has been replaced by the structurally similar bisphenol S (BPS), this study focused on the effects of the latter on early mice embryo development.
METHODS: Cultures of CD1 mice embryos with varying concentrations of BPS were compared with control blank cultures in order to examine the survival rate of embryos according to BPS concentration a

Among adults without a history of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), we estimated the effects of urinary bisphenol A (BPA) and plasma nitric oxide metabolites (NOx) on risks of 24-h ST-segment depression events (STDE) and T-wave inversion events (TIE), two indicators of myocardial ischemia, recorded in five types of leads (i.e., anterior, anterolateral, lateral, inferior and all leads) by 12-lead Holter monitors. Target genes for BPA exposure and myocardial ischemia were identified by network toxicology analyses. Furthermore, we explored whether L-arginine (L-Arg, a substrate for NO synthesis) sup

Herein, a novel chemiluminescence (CL) sensor was successfully developed based on chlorine doped carbon dots (Cl/CDs) for the rapid determination of bisphenol A (BPA) and nitrite. The Cl/CDs were synthesized through a hydrothermal method, using ascorbic acid as the precursor and hydrochloric acid as the dopant. It was found that Cl/CDs significantly enhanced the CL intensity of the acid-KMnO4 system, while BPA and nitrite quenched the CL intensity of the Cl/CDs-sensitized acid-KMnO4 system. Under optimal conditions, BPA exhibited a linear detection range of 0.05-10 μM, with limits of detection

Bisphenol A is a plastic component, which shows endocrine activity that is detrimental to humans and aquatic ecosystems. The elimination of BPA from the environment is one of the solutions for BPA contaminant management. Adsorption is a cost-effective, easy-to-use method generating low harmful byproducts; nevertheless, contaminant sorbent treatment is a challenge that still needs to be addressed. Fungal fruiting bodies biomass is rarely studied sorbent but is promising due to its high polysaccharide content and availability. Our preliminary studies showed BPA sorption (100 mg/L) by 50 cultivat

BACKGROUND: Bisphenol A (BPA) is an endocrine disrupting chemical released from plastic materials, including food packaging and dental sealants, persisting in the environment and ubiquitously contaminating ecosystems and human populations. BPA can elicit an array of damaging health effects and, alarmingly, 'BPA-free' alternatives mirror these harmful effects. Bisphenol exposure can negatively impact female fertility, damaging both the ovary and oocytes therein. Such damage can diminish reproductive capacity, pregnancy success, and offspring health. Despite global government regulations in plac

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a phenolic chemical that has been found to be associated with human health outcomes. It is one of the risk factors for thyroid function. Pregnancy is a vulnerable window for thyroid problems, because of the fluctuations in hormone levels. This review aimed to evaluate the association between BPA exposure and thyroid function during pregnancy. We conducted a comprehensive search of relevant databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library, for original studies published in English that reported data on BPA levels and thyroid-related horm

BACKGROUND: Bisphenol (BP-)A is a chemical used in Europe to produce polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resin or as colour developer in thermal paper. Due to its toxicity, BPA presence was restricted by European regulations. Therefore, substitute chemicals are replacing BPA.
OBJECTIVE: To assess the allergenic sensitizing potential of 27 substitutes to BPA used in the industry.
METHODS: The expression of two costimulatory molecules and six cytokines were analysed by flow cytometry in mouse bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs) exposed to the chemicals.
RESULTS: All substances except one

Bisphenol A (BPA) is an endocrine-disrupting chemical widely present in many consumer goods that poses a significant threat to our health upon exposure. Humans are exposed to BPA, which directly or indirectly causes endocrine dysfunctions that lead to metabolic disorders like obesity, fatty liver diseases, insulin resistance, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and other endocrine- related imbalances. The duration, quantity, and period of exposure to BPA, especially during the critical stage of development, determine its impact on reproductive and non-reproductive health. Because of its endocrine-dis

Bisphenol A is a common environmental factor and endocrine disruptor that exerts a negative impact on male reproductive ability. By exploring bisphenol A-induced testicular cell death using the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) mouse model, we found that a ferroptosis phenomenon may exist. Mice were divided into six groups and administered different doses of bisphenol A via intragastric gavage once daily for 45 consecutive days. Serum was then collected to determine the levels of superoxide dismutase and malondialdehyde. Epididymal sperm was also collected for semen analysis, and testicular t

In this paper, molybdenum disulfide was grown on the surface of iron-containing tailings by hydrothermal method, and a series of highly efficient activated persulfate (PMS) iron-based catalysts were successfully prepared. The results show that in the CTM 1-200/PMS system, the additional ratio of tailings and the hydrothermal temperature have important effects on the catalyst. The catalyst prepared under the conditions of CT:MoS2 (molar ratio 1:1) and hydrothermal temperature of 200 °C (CTM 1-200) had the best degradation effect on BPA, and the degradation effect was increased by four times. Bisphenol F is a substitute material for bisphenol A and is widely used in household products as a raw material for polycarbonate resin, epoxy resin, and plastic reinforcement. It is known to be mainly used in food containers, thermal paper for receipts, and coatings for water pipes. In some countries, bisphenol F has been detected in drinking water and human urine samples. However, due to the lack of safety evaluation data on bisphenol F, it is difficult to establish appropriate guidelines for the proper use of the substance, and social anxiety is increasing accordingly. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a globally utilized industrial chemical and is commonly used as a monomer of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Recent research reveals that BPA could cause potential adverse biological effects and liver dysfunction. However, the underlying mechanisms of BPA-induced hepatoxicity and gut dysbiosis remain unclear and deserve further study. In this study, male Sprague Dawley rats were exposed to different doses (0, 30, 90, and 270 mg/kg bw) of BPA by gavage for 30 days. The results showed that the high dose of BPA decreased superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH),

Color vision, initiated from cone cells, is vitally essential for identifying environmental information in vertebrate. Although the retinotoxicity of bisphenol S (BPS) has been reported, data on the influence of BPS treatment on cone cells are scarce. In the present study, transgenic zebrafish (Danio rerio) labeling red and ultraviolet (UV) cones were exposed to BPS (0, 1, 10, and 100 μg/L) during the early stages of retinal development, to elucidate the mechanism underlying its retinal cone toxicity of BPS. The results showed that 10 and 100 μg/L BPS induced oxidative DNA damage, structural d

Bisphenol S (BPS) is a structural analog of the endocrine disruptor bisphenol A (BPA); it is the main BPA replacement in the plastics industry. Previous studies have shown that BPA and BPS exhibit similar effects on reproduction in fish and rodent species. BPS reportedly alters steroidogenesis in bovine granulosa cells. Luteinised granulosa cells collected from 59 women who were undergoing an in vitro fertilization procedure were cultured for 48 h in the presence or absence of BPS (10 nM, 100 nM, 1 µM, 10 µM or 50 µM). BPS exposure was investigated by assessing follicular fluids from these 59

Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the most common environmental pollutants among endocrine disruptors. Due to its similarity to estrogen, BPA may affect estrogen receptors and show adverse effects on many internal organs. The reproductive system is particularly vulnerable to the impact of BPA, but knowledge about BPA-induced changes in the innervation of the uterus is relatively scarce. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the influence of various doses of BPA on nitrergic nerves supplying the uterus with the double immunofluorescence method. It has been shown that even low doses of BPA caused
