Facial foreign body (FB) is common after trauma, but iatrogenic orbital FB is a rare and unexpected complication of facial FB removal surgery. We present the case of a 43-year-old man with a glass FB in his nose. During the operation, this FB broke into two pieces, and the larger one pierced into the left orbit, close to the eyeball. A three-dimensional (3D) model was made that accurately recreated the shape and position of the FB in the orbit, according to which the FB was removed. 3D-printing technology is a great tool when dealing with complex facial FB.

Pilonidal disease occurs most commonly in those males who have to sit long hours at their work place e.g. online office workers or drivers. A foreign body in the parotid gland whether from the oral cavity or through the skin is extremely uncommon. The ear is one of the most common sites of keloid formation, usually associated with the wearing of earrings. However, although this is a small perforating lesion that is equal on both sides, keloids are bigger and more prevalent on the posterior surface. In this study, 141 keloids were evaluated, most of which were located on the posterior surface of the earlobe and caused by the piercing of the ear. We report what is, to our best knowledge, the first case of pyogenic spondylitis following ear piercing, a common and popular cosmetic procedure. The spondylitis was adequately treated with antibiotics and brace. The value of additional diagnostic measures in differentiating between spondylitis and discitis is discussed.

We describe a case of Streptococcus viridans endocarditis in a 17-year-old female with congenital ventricular septal defect, that followed shortly after performing naval piercing. She was eventually treated with penicillin with complete recovery. We review other cases from the literature of piercing-associated endocarditis, and suggest that individuals at particularly high risk might be considered for antibiotic prophylaxis prior to such procedures.

Pencil-core granulomas grow rapidly after a long incubation period, typically taking years to decades after penetration by the pencil core. However, colored pencil-core granulomas, which have different core components, have been reported to form just a few days after the core has pierced the skin. It is understood that this difference in incubation period is due to differences in reactivity to different types of foreign bodies. However, we report a rare case of colored pencil-core granuloma that took a three-month incubation period despite being caused by a green pencil-core.
