[Preparation of hydrophilic, magnetic molecularly imprinted resins of chlorogenic acid and evaluation of its solid-phase extraction performance].

Hydrophilic, magnetic molecularly imprinted resins (MMIRs) were fabricated inside Fe3O4@mSiO2 pores by the one-pot copolycondensation of chlorogenic acid (CGA), resorcinol, melamine, and formaldehyde. The final porous MMIRs with larger numbers of surface recognition sites were obtained by removing mSiO2. The successful preparation of MMIRs was confirmed using transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometry, thermo-gravimetric analysis, and water contact angle analysis. The analyses suggest that the MMIRs have excellent hydrophilicity and

Injectable thiol-yne-crosslinked γ-PGA/alginate hydrogels with chlorogenic acid-loaded nanoparticles for antibacterial and antioxidant activity.

Injectable hydrogels capable of addressing both bacterial contamination and oxidative stress are attractive for local biomedical applications, yet integrating controllable network formation with sustained bioactivity remains challenging. Herein, an injectable γ-poly(glutamic acid)/alginate (γ-PGA/Alg) hydrogel was constructed via thiol-yne photoclick crosslinking between alkynylated γ-PGA and thiolated alginate, and further functionalized with chlorogenic acid-loaded chitooligosaccharide/tripolyphosphate nanoparticles (NP-CA). The hydrogel contained ∼98 wt% water and formed a dual crosslinked

Chlorogenic acid promotes mtDNA leakage to enhance cGAS-STING induced anti-tumor immunity via ATF5-mtHSP70-TFAM system.

Mitochondrial targeting represents a promising antitumor strategy by modulating cell differentiation, metabolic reprogramming, and immune responses. While chlorogenic acid (CGA) has demonstrated the ability to induce tumor cell differentiation and enhance antitumor immunity, the involvement of mitochondrial regulation in these effects remains unclear. This study investigated whether CGA mediates antitumor immune effects through mitochondrial regulation, thereby providing a theoretical framework for natural product-based, mitochondria-targeted therapies. Our findings reveal that CGA inhibits th

Chlorogenic acid ameliorates muscle wasting by upregulating mRNA expressions of calcineurin and PGC-1α in diabetic rat model.

INTRODUCTION: Muscle health in diabetes mellitus (DM) is often neglected, which leads to muscle wasting. Increased reactive oxygen species in DM could decrease antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD-1) and -2 (SOD-2) and inhibit calcineurin (CN) and PGC-1α signalling pathways. Chlorogenic acid (CGA) is known as a potent antioxidant and activators of CN and PGC-1α. This study aimed to determine the effect of CGA on mRNA expressions of SOD-1, SOD-2, CN and PGC-1α in inhibiting the progression of DM to muscle wasting. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study was conducted at Department

Indole-3-carbinol and chlorogenic acid combination modulates gut microbiome and attenuates nonalcoholic steatohepatitis in a murine model.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease worldwide, affecting almost 32% of the population and ranging from simple steatosis to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Recent findings indicate that the fast-growing prevalence of NAFLD might be linked to adherence to a Westernized diet (WD), mostly composed of fat/sugar-enriched foods. The WD has been reportedly targeted as a potential driver of gut-liver axis unbalance, suggesting a major role in NASH. On the other hand, bioactive food compounds feature as a potential chemopreventive strategy against NASH,

Mitohormesis and Regeneration: Natural Compounds Chlorogenic Acid (CGA) and Isovanillic Acid 3-O-sulfate (IVAS) Boost Muscle Cell Recovery in the Equine Athlete Model.

Skeletal muscle satellite cells ( SCs), essential for muscle regeneration, are a valuable model for studying exercise-induced stress relevant to human athletes. This study examined the effects of two natural compounds-chlorogenic acid (CGA) and isovanillic acid 3-O-sulfate (IVAS)-increasingly recognized as components of modern, nature-based recovery strategies. Their combination (Hybrid) was also tested on equine model of skeletal muscle satellite cells (ESCs) exposed to heat shock (40 °C, 1 h), mimicking exercise stress. Cells were treated with CGA (0.005%), IVAS (0.0005%), or both for 24 h p

Dietary chlorogenic acid modulates jejunal microbiota, short-chain fatty acids, and hypothalamic gene expression in broilers under high stocking density.

High stocking density can impair broiler growth and is associated with alterations in intestinal microbial ecology and neuroendocrine regulation of feeding. Chlorogenic acid (CGA) has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and microbiota-modulating properties. This study evaluated dietary CGA in a 2 × 2 experimental arrangement defined by stocking density (normal vs. high) and CGA supplementation (0 vs. 1 g/kg). Two hundred and sixteen one-day-old male Arbor Acres (AA) broilers were assigned to ND (14 birds/m2), HD (22 birds/m2), NDCGA (14 birds/m2 + 1 g/kg CGA), or HDCGA (22 birds/m2 + 1 g/kg CGA),

Chlorogenic acid promotes liver regeneration and repair after acetaminophen-induced liver injury via alleviating oxidative stress and enhancing fatty acid β-oxidation by activating Nrf2.

Acetaminophen (ACM)-induced hepatotoxicity involves an acute injury phase followed by a recovery phase. Although N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is widely used clinically to mitigate ACM-caused hepatotoxicity during the initial injury phase, effective therapeutic strategies to promote liver regeneration (LR) during the recovery phase remain unavailable. Chlorogenic acid (CGA), abundantly present in dietary sources, has been shown to exert significant hepatoprotective effects. This study reported that CGA not only promoted LR in mice following ACM (300 mg kg-1) intoxication (p < 0.05) but also significa

Chlorogenic Acid Alleviates Colon Mucosal Damage Induced by a High-Fat Diet via Gut Microflora Adjustment to Increase Short-Chain Fatty Acid Accumulation in Rats.

A high-fat diet (HFD) has been previously associated with the development of diseases such as chronic colitis. While chlorogenic acid (CGA) is known to exhibit potent antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties, little is known about its effects on intestinal inflammation. In this study, we investigated the effects of CGA on intestinal inflammation in an HFD-induced obesity rat model and assessed whether these effects were related to changes in gut microbiota composition. This was achieved by examining physiological and biochemical indicators, the liver transcriptome, and the
