CARE-HOUSE: developing a framework for conceptualizing social implications of digital health technologies in palliative care.

BACKGROUND: The use of digital health technologies holds potential benefits for palliative care. Their implementation is fundamentally shifting routines and care practices. These shifts entail social implications that are complex, may emerge gradually and are challenging to identify. However, the social implications of digital health technologies are not conceptualized yet. This study addresses this gap by developing a framework on the social implications of digital technologies in palliative care, where the importance of social inclusion and interpersonal connection is particularly evident. Enhancing lung cancer screening through 'saved by the scan': insights from a multipronged public service advertising campaign.

BACKGROUND: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in the United States. Lung cancer screening (LCS) uptake remains low nationally, with disproportionate underuse in racial and ethnic minority populations. This study descriptively evaluated the reach, engagement, and temporal screening trends associated with a multipronged, bilingual, minority-focused public service awareness campaign, "Saved by the Scan" (SBTS), implemented in partnership with a large minority-serving health system in South Florida. METHODS: This was a retrospective, multi-site study within a large mino

Why Haven't You Texted Me Back? Adolescents' Digital Entrapment, Friendship Conflict, and Perceived General Health.

OBJECTIVE: Many adolescents feel pressure to be constantly available and responsive to others via their smartphones and social media. This phenomenon has been understudied using quantitative methods, and no prior study has examined adolescents' specific stress about meeting digital availability expectations within a best friendship, or entrapment. The present study offers an important preliminary examination of this unique digital stressor in a developmental context by examining prospective associations between digital entrapment, psychosocial adjustment, and health in adolescence. METHOD: St

Unique Digital Images as Incentives in Clinical Trials: A Digital Shift Toward Meaningful Participation.

Incentivization in clinical trial participation can be challenging, with many studies failing to meet recruitment or retention goals despite traditional compensation strategies. Digital health evolves, and with it, new approaches can emerge to engage participants meaningfully. We propose unique digital images as a novel, symbolic incentive for clinical trials. Digital images combine qualities such as personalization, ownership, and digital visibility, which may drive engagement more effectively than monetary rewards alone. In our illustrative study, participants complete artificial intelligenc

Barriers and facilitators to implementing digital psychosocial interventions for older adults presenting to emergency departments: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Globally, we are experiencing an ageing population. In high-income countries, many individuals aged over 60 years live with at least one chronic condition. Among older people, certain psychosocial factors are associated with increased risk of experiencing an emergency department (ED) presentation. These presentations may have negative physical and psychological outcomes for individuals and place additional burdens on health resources. The implementation of digital psychosocial interventions could help create age-friendly EDs and improve holistic healthcare provision, reduce re-pres

Digital mindfulness and the laboring self: A discourse analysis of burnout in Headspace.

Burnout has become a prevalent topic in both medical and public discourse, yet there remains little consensus on how it should be defined or addressed. Digital mental health technologies, especially mindfulness meditation apps like Headspace, position themselves as accessible responses to this condition. However, research in medical anthropology demonstrate that such technologies do not merely reflect dominant understandings of health, they actively shape health, illness/disease and care practices. Focusing on the mindfulness meditation mobile phone application Headspace, this article shows ho

[Clinical practice guideline for digital smoking cessation technologies (2026 edition)].

Given their accessibility, cost-effectiveness, and scalability, digital health technologies (DHTs) are increasingly recognized as promising adjuncts to traditional smoking cessation approaches. To address the lagging evidence updates and lack of implementation pathways in existing guidelines, a multidisciplinary panel developed this guideline by systematically synthesizing current evidence on digital smoking cessation interventions. The development process adhered to the WHO Handbook for Guideline Development and the Chinese Principles for Developing/Revising Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment G
