Measurements of 45Ca2+ efflux from bovine skeletal muscle fibres preloaded with this isotope indicate that the sarcoplasmic free Ca2+ concentration rises and falls under anaerobic (or uncoupled) and aerobic conditions, respectively. Studies were carried out on interaction of Trichoderma viride with copper and reports bioaccumulation as a mechanism of copper tolerance during growth. There was a marked increase in the lag phase of the growth, which was concentration dependent. We studied the effects of ionophores on activity of Na+,Cl-(HCO 3- )-ATPase. The most significant effect on the activity of this enzyme was produced by protonophore 2,4-dinitrophenol. The effect of this drug largely depended on the cation and anion composition and pH of the incubation medium and its pH. The Saccharomyces cerevisiae Yhl035p/Vmr1p is an ABC transporter of the MRP subfamily that is conserved in all post Whole Genome Duplication species. The deletion of the YHL035 gene caused growth sensitivity to several amphiphilic drugs such as cycloheximide, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, 2,4-dinitrophenol as well as to cadmium and other toxic metals. Vmr1p-GFP was located in the vacuolar membrane. The ATP-dependent transport of a DNP-S-glutathione conjugate was reduced in a vesicular fraction from the VMR1 deletant.
