Goltz syndrome or focal dermal hypoplasia (FDH), is an X-linked dominant condition which predominantly involves the skin, limbs and eyes. In otolaryngology, FDH has been poorly described, but can result in increased symptoms of obstructive sleep apnoea requiring surgery. There have also been documented cases of mixed severe hearing loss secondary to congenital ossicular anomalies. Helicobacter pylori has been linked with peptic ulcer disease, non-autoimmune gastritis, non peptic ulcer dyspepsia and gastric carcinoma and lymphoma. This study looked at the incidence of H. pylori infection in Ghanaian patients with dyspeptic symptoms referred for upper gastro-intestinal endoscopy and its relationship to various pathologies. Familial adenomatous polyposis (PAF) associated to soft tissue tumors or osteomas constitutes the Gardner's syndrome of autosomal dominant inheritance. BACKGROUND: Carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater is an infrequent tumor that can be diagnosed, early.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Twenty-four patients with histologically proven carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater were retrospectively studied and their data were analyzed.

Colonoscopy is widely accepted as the gold-standard screening technique for detecting malignancies in the distal gastrointestinal tract in patients with symptoms suggestive of colon cancer. However, this procedure is not without risk, including colonic perforation. We report a patient who was managed conservatively after colonoscopy induced perforation. Eighteen months after appearing to make a full recovery, he presented with an upper gastrointestinal bleed. Oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (OGD) revealed large gastric fundal varices and computed tomography (CT) revealed splenic vein thrombosis.
