The title compound, [HgCl2(C12H15N3O2S)2], was synthesized by the reaction of (E)-2-[1-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-yl)ethyl-idene]-N-ethyl-hydrazine-1-carbo-thio-amide [common name: 3',4'-(methyl-enedi-oxy)aceto-phenone 4-ethyl-thio-semicarbazone] with mercury(II) chloride in a 2:1 molar ratio at ambient temperature, using ethanol as solvent. This work presents the chemo-enzymatic Baeyer-Villiger oxidation of α-benzylcyclopentanones in ester solvents as well as deep eutectic solvents (DES). In the first part of the work the effect of selected reaction conditions on the reaction rate was determined. Concentrations of chlorinated volatile organic compounds (Cl-VOCs) at the saturated-unsaturated interface region (SUIR; depth of approximately 18m) of a sandy phreatic aquifer were measured in two monitoring wells located 25m apart. The concentrations of the Cl-VOCs obtained above and below the water table along a 413-day period are interpreted to depict variable, simultaneous and independent movement of trichlorothene, tetrachloroethene, 1,1-dichloroethene, cis-1,2-dichloroethene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, chloroform and 1,1-dichloroethane vapors in opposite directions across the SUIR.

This study introduces a process combining wet in situ transesterification and hydrothermal liquefaction (iTHL) for fatty acid ethyl ester (FAEE) production from intact microalgae, Nannochloropsis gaditana without catalyst at temperatures higher than 160°C. Overdoses of several volatile anesthetics (ether, chloroform, ethyl chloride, halothane, methoxyflurane) as well as of various barbiturates lead to severe contractile failure of the heart. In all cases it was found that at the stage of maximal failure the myocardial stores of ATP and phosphocreatine were increased, indicative of reduced high energy phosphate utilization. An aerobic bacterium, Ralstonia sp. strain TRW-1, that assimilates vinyl chloride (VC) or ethene (ETH) as the sole carbon source was isolated from a chloroethene-degrading enrichment culture. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rDNA sequence of the isolate revealed almost 99% sequence similarity to Ralstonia pickettii. To our knowledge, this is the first report describing the isolation of a member of Ralstonia that can degrade VC as the growth substrate.
