Yiqi Fumai Lyophilized Injection for Improving Exercise Tolerance in Chronic Heart Failure: Protocol for a Prospective Cohort Study.

BACKGROUND: High mortality and prevalence rates are hallmarks of chronic heart failure (CHF). Patients frequently have a much lower quality of life as a result of diminished exercise tolerance. Chinese guidelines have recommended Yiqi Fumai lyophilized injection (YQFM) for the treatment of heart failure, although there is currently inadequate evidence to support its effectiveness in increasing exercise tolerance in these patients. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this cohort study is to examine the relationship between the improvement of exercise tolerance in patients with CHF and the addition of YQ

Skin heating during simulated hemorrhage lowers arterial blood pressure but not tolerance following exercise in a cold environment.

Skin heating helps avoid hypothermia in trauma victims but may influence the systolic (SBP) and mean arterial blood pressures (MAP) helping to guide resuscitation. We examined the effect of skin heating on tolerance and arterial blood pressure during lower body negative pressure (LBNP) across four trials. Nine participants completed 15 exercise intervals [60 s 88% peak power output (PPO) and 60 s 10% PPO] in a cold environment (0°C, 70% RH) lowering mean skin temperature (Tsk) before undergoing LBNP to pre syncope where Tsk remained low (Cold Trial: 27.6 ± 1.1°C) or was increased via a water-p

Enhancing exercise tolerance in interstitial lung disease with high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy: A randomized crossover trial.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is characterized by dyspnoea on exertion and exercise-induced hypoxaemia. High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy reduces the respiratory workload through higher gas flow and oxygen supplementation, which may affect exercise tolerance. This study aimed to examine the effects of oxygen and gas flow rates through HFNC therapy on exercise tolerance in ILD patients. METHODS: We conducted three-treatment crossover study. All ILD patients performed the exercises on room air (ROOM AIR setting: flow, 0 L/min; fraction of inspired oxygen [FiO2],

RETRACTED: Determination of submaximal exercise tolerance in athletes using a method to predict cardiac patient conditions during rehabilitation.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

Many professional athletes, after the end of their careers, cannot fully carry out daily social activities due to problems with health. The main problem is a significant rate of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, the choice of rehabilitation techniques for former athletes is of primary importance. The aim of the paper is to create a model that increases the ability to predict both relapses and remissions during rehabilitation in cardiovascular diseases. The model takes into account the features of the cardiovascular function in athletes and their recovery. The article shows that the reliabili

The repeatability of the abbreviated (4-h) Oral Fat Tolerance Test and influence of prior acute aerobic exercise.

PURPOSE: The Oral Fat Tolerance Test (OFTT) is regarded as a repeatable measure used to assess postprandial triglyceride (TAG) levels, with higher levels observed in cardio-metabolic disorders. Acute aerobic exercise intervention before OFTT reduces the TAG response, but the repeatability of this effect is unknown. The aim of this study was to determine the repeatability of the abbreviated 4-h OFTT with and without immediate prior aerobic exercise. METHODS: On four separate days, healthy adult male participants underwent two 4-h OFTT (n = 10) and another two 4-h OFTT with 1-h of standardised

Fetuin-A is linked to improved glucose tolerance after short-term exercise training in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Fetuin-A is synthesized in the liver and may be associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and type 2 diabetes. Lifestyle-induced weight loss reduces fetuin-A, but the effect of exercise alone is unknown. We determined the effect of short-term exercise training on plasma fetuin-A in 13 (50.5 ± 3.4 yr) obese adults (body mass index, 33.3 ± 0.9 kg/m(2)) with clinically diagnosed NAFLD. Subjects participated in 7 days of supervised exercise training (60 min/day at ∼85% maximum heart rate) and were instructed to maintain their normal caloric and macronutrient intake. Insulin resistan

Effect of α-lipoic acid and exercise training on cardiovascular disease risk in obesity with impaired glucose tolerance.

Obese subjects with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) are more susceptible than healthy individuals to oxidative stress and cardiovascular disease. This randomised controlled investigation was designed to test the hypothesis that α-lipoic acid supplementation and exercise training may elicit favourable clinical changes in obese subjects with IGT. All data were collected from 24 obese (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2) IGT patients. Following participant randomisation into two groups, fasting venous blood samples were obtained at baseline, and before and following intervention. The first group consisted of 12 par

Endothelin receptor antagonists improve exercise tolerance and oxygen saturations in patients with Eisenmenger syndrome and congenital heart defects.

Patients with Eisenmenger syndrome experience substantial morbidity and decreased survival rates. In advanced cases, lung transplantation with cardiac repair or heart-lung transplantation is often the only option. The efficacy of endothelin receptor antagonists in Eisenmenger syndrome, which has similar pathophysiology to idiopathic pulmonary hypertension, remains unknown. We retrospectively studied adults with congenital heart disease and Eisenmenger syndrome who were treated with endothelin receptor antagonists. Analysis included chart reviews of clinical evaluations, oxygen saturation levels

Prevalence of silent myocardial ischaemia during exercise stress testing. Its relation to effort tolerance and myocardial perfusion abnormalities.

The number of underperfused myocardial segments, the extent of coronary artery disease and the severity of impairment of coronary flow reserve were compared in 147 consecutive patients exhibiting painful or painless ischaemic ST segment depression on exercise testing. Of 147 patients, only 61 (41%) experienced angina (group 1) whilst 86 (59%) did not (group 2). In the two groups coronary disease was comparable for both extent and distribution, and neither the location of transient perfusion defects nor their relation to areas of old myocardial necrosis appeared to influence the presence or abs

Long-term therapy with benazepril in patients with congestive heart failure: effects on clinical status and exercise tolerance.

Benazepril hydrochloride (CGS 14824A) is an orally active, nonsulfhydryl compound that is transformed in vivo to a long-acting inhibitor of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). Previous studies have shown benazepril to lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients and to confer acute hemodynamic benefits in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF). In the current multicenter investigation, 16 patients with chronic CHF due to left ventricular systolic dysfunction (ejection fraction less than 0.40 at rest) whose symptoms corresponded to New York Heart Association classes II to IV were given

Measurement of Exercise Tolerance before Surgery (METS) study: a protocol for an international multicentre prospective cohort study of cardiopulmonary exercise testing prior to major non-cardiac surgery.

INTRODUCTION: Preoperative functional capacity is considered an important risk factor for cardiovascular and other complications of major non-cardiac surgery. Nonetheless, the usual approach for estimating preoperative functional capacity, namely doctors' subjective assessment, may not accurately predict postoperative morbidity or mortality. 3 possible alternatives are cardiopulmonary exercise testing; the Duke Activity Status Index, a standardised questionnaire for estimating functional capacity; and the serum concentration of N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT pro-BNP), a biomarke
