Depside derivatives with anti-hepatic fibrosis and anti-diabetic activities from Impatiens balsamina L. flowers.

Eighteen compounds (1-18), seven new (3-9) and eleven previously reported (1, 2, and 10-18), were isolated from the flowers of Impatiens balsamina (Linn). The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated using different spectroscopic methods, including NMR (1D and 2D), UV, IR, and HR-ESI-MS. Analysis of the bioassay results showed the compounds had notable anti-hepatic fibrosis activity against murine Hepatic Stellate Cells (t-HSC/Cl-6) and anti-diabetics activity against α-glucosidase. Specifically, new compounds 7, 8, 9 showed significant inhibitory activity on t-HSC/Cl-6 cells with

Chili-Seg: a high-precision detection and instance segmentation model for chili flowers in complex environments.

Accurate recognition and instance segmentation of chili flowers are fundamental to the development of intelligent breeding robots and the improvement of operational efficiency in protected agriculture. However, in unstructured field environments, chili flowers are typically small-scale targets and are frequently affected by occlusion from leaves and branches as well as illumination variations, leading to degraded feature representation and suboptimal segmentation performance in existing models. To address these challenges, this study proposes a high-precision detection and segmentation framewo

Vibration mechanics involved in buzz pollination lead to size-dependent associations between bumblebees and Pedicularis flowers.

Floral traits modify pollinator behavior and shape the plant-pollinator interaction pattern at ecological and evolutionary levels. Biomechanical traits are important in mediating interactions between flowers and their pollinators in some cases, such as in buzz pollination. During buzz pollination, a bee produces vibrations using its thoracic muscles and transfers these vibrations primarily through its mandibles as it bites the flower. The interaction between buzz-pollinated flowers and their pollinators is influenced by their physical size relative to each other, but the drivers of these size-

Pharmacological potential of alkylamides from Acmella oleracea flowers and synthetic isobutylalkyl amide to treat inflammatory pain.

Acmella oleracea ("jambu") is an Amazonian plant rich in alkylamides. Its flowers are widely used in folk medicine to treat toothache due to tingling, numbness, and local anaesthesia caused in the mouth. Our group previously demonstrated that the intraplantar (i.pl.) injection of an alkylamide-rich hexane fraction (HF) obtained from jambu flowers and a synthetic isobutylalkyl amide (IBA) displayed antinociceptive and anesthetic effects in acute pain models. Thus, here we evaluated the effects of HF and IBA on carrageenan-induced acute inflammation. Mice were pretreated with HF or IBA (0.01, 0.

Metatranscriptome Analysis of Fig Flowers Provides Insights into Potential Mechanisms for Mutualism Stability and Gall Induction.

A striking property of the mutualism between figs and their pollinating wasps is that wasps consistently oviposit in the inner flowers of the fig syconium, which develop into galls that house developing larvae. Wasps typically do not use the outer ring of flowers, which develop into seeds. To better understand differences between gall and seed flowers, we used a metatranscriptomic approach to analyze eukaryotic gene expression within fig flowers at the time of oviposition choice and early gall development. Consistent with the unbeatable seed hypothesis, we found significant differences in gene
