Lymphoma of the stomach may exist as a primary lesion or as a manifestation of generalized or systemic lymphoma. The primary lesions constitute approximately 3 per cent of all malignant lesions of the stomach and outnumber all other types of non-epithelial malignant lesions. The cause is not known. Gross characteristics often resemble carcinoma, and like carcinoma, the primary lesion may affect other structures by direct extension, may seed to peritoneal surfaces, may metastasize to lymph nodes near or far, and may be borne by the blood to liver, lung or bone. We report about a 16-years-old patient with a newly developed palpable mass and pain in the epigastrium. On computed tomography, a trichobezoar was diagnosed. Complementary history, gathered retrospectively, revealed trichophagia and swallowing of chewing gum. Gastroscopic disintegration of the trichobezoar was unsuccessful and it therefore had to be removed by open surgery.

The gastroscopic examination has been done in 72 children for diagnosis of congenital pylorostenosis in 1993-1995. The authors think that this method is more reliable and sparing to compare with any others for diagnosis of congenital pylorostenosis. The absence of pylorus motility as a reaction for the external stimulation is a main criterium for endoscopic diagnosis of congenital pylorostenosis.

In spite of its high incidence, not much is known about the etiology of chronic urticaria. We performed gastroscopic evaluation of 10 patients in whom no cause for chronic urticaria had been found. In 8 of these 10 patients, Helicobacter pylori was identified in the gastric mucosa. The chronic urticarial lesions disappeared within a few days after starting therapy with amoxicillin and omeprazol.

Having observed the drain through the stomach tube after the rectangular valve anastomosis for 58 cases in effecting a radical cure of antral gastric carcinoma. Determined the pH value, BAO and DGRI, duodenal-graphed and watched through gastroscope. A 65-year-old male patient presented multiple cutaneous nodules on trunk and an erythematous inflammatory lesion resembling erysipelas on left side of neck. Result of skin biopsies disclosed groups of metastatic adenocarcinoma cells in the dermis, subcutaneous tissue, and lumina of the lymphatic vessels. Histopathologic examination of the stomach, along with the gastroscope, established that the cutaneous metastasis was of stomach origin.

The pylorus was observed gastroscopically, biopsies of the gastral and duodenal mucosa were taken in 183 patients. If the mucosa did not show signs of inflammation, reflux-favouring behaviour of the pylorus (permanently being ajar or acting hyperkinetically) was rare. In patients with gastritis it was significantly more frequent. If the inflammation concerned the mucosa of the stomach as well as that of the duodenum the reflux-favouring behaviour of the pylorus was especially frequent.

A case of asymptomatic pneumoperitoneum after fiber gastroscopic sclerosis of bleeding gastric erosions is presented. Air bubbles in gastric curvatures without evidence of macroscopic perforation were found at laparotomy. We comment the etiologies of pneumoperitoneum without macroscopic perforation and suggest that the management of patients with asymptomatic pneumoperitoneum with normal clinical examination and blood analysis might be conservative to avoid needless laparotomies.

The authors have performed 28 sessions of endoscopic sclerotherapy of dilated esophagus veins in children. The 70% ethyl alcohol was used. Six sessions were carried out in patients with gastroesophageal hemorrhage. In 22 patients the sclerotherapy was carried on according to plan. The fiber gastroscope with a standard injector was used. A conclusion is made of expediency of using endoscopic sclerotherapy in complex treatment of portal hypertension in children.
