Preoperative autologous blood collection and haemodilution with gelatin solution (gelifundol).

Autologous blood collection and haemodilution with gelatin solution had an effect on the decrease in red blood cells, haemoglobin, haemotocrit, fibrinogen and platelets; however, this technique had no effect on coagulograms, platelet function and haemostasis. In conclusion, this technique is suitable and possibly practical in obtaining sufficient blood for elective surgical patients and is without any undesirable side effects.

Expansion and Delivery of Human Chondrocytes on Gelatin-Based Cell Carriers.

Cartilage damage is common in sports injuries and cartilage-related diseases, such as degenerative joint and rheumatic disorders. Autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) is a widely used cell-based therapy for repairing cartilage damage in clinical practice. In this procedure, a patient's chondrocytes are isolated, cultured in vitro to expand the cell population, and then implanted into the damaged site. However, in vitro expansion of chondrocytes on standard 2D culture surfaces leads to dedifferentiation (loss of the chondrocyte phenotype), and the delivery of detached cells has proven to b

Magnetic gelatin-hesperidin microrobots promote proliferation and migration of dermal fibroblasts.

Dermal fibroblasts play a crucial role in the formation of granulation tissue in skin wounds. Consequently, the differentiation, migration, and proliferation of dermal fibroblasts are considered key factors in the skin wound healing process. However, in patients with diabetic foot ulcers, the proliferation and migration of fibroblasts are impaired by reactive oxygen species and inflammatory factors impair. Therefore, a novel magnetic gelatin-hesperidin microrobots drug delivery system was developed using microfluidics. The morphology, motility characteristics, and drug release of the microrobo

Effect of viscosity of gelatin methacryloyl-based bioinks on bone cells.

The viscosity of gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA)-based bioinks generates shear stresses throughout the printing process that can affect cell integrity, reduce cell viability, cause morphological changes, and alter cell functionality. This study systematically investigated the impact of the viscosity of GelMA-gelatin bioinks on osteoblast-like cells in 2D and 3D culture conditions. Three bioinks with low, medium, and high viscosity prepared by supplementing a 5% GelMA solution with different concentrations of gelatin were evaluated. Cell responses were studied in a 2D environment after printing an

Fish scale containing alginate dialdehyde-gelatin bioink for bone tissue engineering.

The development of biomaterial inks suitable for biofabrication and mimicking the physicochemical properties of the extracellular matrix is essential for the application of bioprinting technology in tissue engineering (TE). The use of animal-derived proteinous materials, such as jellyfish collagen, or fish scale (FS) gelatin (GEL), has become an important pillar in biomaterial ink design to increase the bioactivity of hydrogels. However, besides the extraction of proteinous structures, the use of structurally intact FS as an additive could increase biocompatibility and bioactivity of hydrogels

Heparinized Gelatin-Based Hydrogels for Differentiation of Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells.

Chemically defined hydrogels are increasingly utilized to define the effects of extracellular matrix (ECM) components on cellular fate determination of human embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cell (hESC and hiPSCs). In particular, hydrogels cross-linked by orthogonal click chemistry, including thiol-norbornene photopolymerization and inverse electron demand Diels-Alder (iEDDA) reactions, are explored for 3D culture of hESC/hiPSCs owing to the specificity, efficiency, cytocompatibility, and modularity of the cross-linking reactions. In this work, we exploited the modularity of thiol-norbor

Frequent Application of the New Gelatin-Collagen Nonwoven Accelerates Wound Healing.

OBJECTIVE: Mortality after chronic wounds is high. Thus, proper and effective therapy is of critical importance. Adult mammalian skin cannot regenerate spontaneously. It heals under scar formation in a process of repair. In general, wound closure is achieved through a combination of contraction, scar formation, and regeneration. To enhance wound healing, research groups are continuously inventing and evaluating novel skin replacement products. A single application of a new gelatin-collagen nonwoven accelerates wound closure of full-thickness skin defects. Therefore, the authors' objective was
