Pelvic Floor Health Knowledge With Enhanced Education During Pregnancy.

IMPORTANCE: Prior to delivery, there are postpartum pelvic floor recovery topics to provide education on; however, because of a variety of factors, the majority of these are commonly unaddressed, leaving a patient unknowledgeable and unsatisfied. OBJECTIVE: The primary aim of this study was to determine if providing tailored/targeted pelvic floor disorder education in the peripartum period will improve nulliparous patients' knowledge of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and urinary incontinence (UI). Our secondary aim was to evaluate if a difference exists in patient satisfaction and understanding.

Obesity simulation suits in health professions education: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Weight-related stigma toward people living with obesity is widespread in healthcare settings and has been documented among students and professionals across health disciplines. Such stigma may negatively affect communication, clinical decision-making, and quality of care. Educational strategies aimed at addressing weight bias and fostering empathy during the training of health professionals are therefore of growing interest. In recent years, obesity simulation suits have been introduced as experiential learning tools intended to sensitize learners to physical and psychosocial chall

Well-Being Elective in Health Professional Education: A Pilot Study.

Background: Health professional training is inherently challenging, with elevated rates of burnout, stress, and diminished well-being. Dedicating curricular time to well-being education may build awareness and skills to help students navigate these demands. Methods: A 10-week well-being elective was designed and implemented for health professional students. Participants in the intervention group were predominantly pharmacy students. This pilot feasibility study used a pre- and post-intervention survey design with a comparison group. Course evaluation, self-reported confidence, knowledge, skill

Meta-emotion in health professions education: a theoretical integrative review.

Emotions play a central role in clinical decision-making, communication, empathy, and professional identity formation, yet medicine has traditionally privileged rationality and composure over engagement with emotional experience. Although health professions education has increasingly incorporated empathy, communication, and mindfulness-based interventions, these approaches tend to focus on discrete skills and behaviours without a coherent conceptual framework for understanding how clinicians interpret and respond to emotion. Meta-emotion may offer such a framework, but the construct remains in

Blended learning approaches for community health education in tuberculosis control.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a major health concern in the entire world, and community health workers (CHWs) are the main frontline staff in disease control initiatives. Conventional approaches of training CHWs are usually limited in their ability to scale, to standardization as well as knowledge retention. The research examined the efficacy of the blended learning method that is the digital module with practical learning face-to-face sessions in the area of TB-related community health education. A quasi-experimental, three-arm comparative study was conducted among 248 CHWs, with training modality ass

Glocalizing the theory of learning: a pluriversal perspective on health professions education.

Glocalization has emerged as the preferred solution in health professions education (HPE) to the tension between globally recognized standards and local training practices. Its structure, however, is hub-and-spoke: theory is developed at a Western center, adaptation handled at the periphery. Curricula, accreditation, and assessment are adapted locally; learning theories are treated as universal and unchanging. This Perspective contends that the glocalization project remains incomplete and suggests how to finish it: by glocalizing the very theory of learning. Drawing on bibliometric evidence of

Educational and Resource Needs of Pelvic Health Physiotherapists: Context Matters.

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: Evidence on health system challenges mostly relate to high-income countries. Lack of context-specific knowledge, educational opportunities, and access to resources among pelvic health care providers could be barriers to effective implementation of pelvic health services in South Africa. The aim of this study was to determine the patient and therapist profile, and the educational and resource needs of pelvic health physiotherapists in South Africa. METHODS: Ninety-five pelvic health physiotherapists, recruited over 6 months, participated in a cross-sectional study

Prevention and control of schistosomiasis in the Philippines from a health education perspective.

Schistosomiasis, second only to malaria, poses a significant threat to many regions worldwide, particularly tropical and subtropical areas. The Philippines, located in a tropical region, has long suffered from the serious public health hazards of schistosomiasis. We recognize that, besides direct snail control and mass drug administration, education plays a crucial role, either directly or indirectly, in the prevention and control of schistosomiasis. Therefore, this paper delves into the current status of schistosomiasis in the Philippines, the evolving strategies for prevention and control, a

Neglected Tropical Diseases, Health, and Education: Evidence From China.

While extensive research has examined the impacts of fatal infectious diseases, relatively little attention has been devoted to neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), which are typically non-fatal but impose significant health, social, and economic burdens. This study investigates the effects of a comprehensive schistosomiasis prevention and control policy implemented in China in 2006 on disease prevalence, as well as on the health and educational outcomes of compulsory education age children who had in-utero exposure to the policy. Using the policy as a quasi-experiment, we employ a difference-i

Massive Education in Prison Health in Brazil: A Look Beyond the Walls.

Equal access to health initiatives and services under the principles of universal and comprehensive care remains a challenge in Brazil. The realization of public health policies is further intricate when one examines the health situation of people deprived of liberty. This study showcases the "Prison System: Beyond the Walls" educational pathway, available on the Virtual Learning Environment of the Brazilian National Health System (AVASUS). The action research methodological strategy guided the pathway development, emphasizing dialogic learning. The goal was to address the need for massive tra

Employing patient-centric health education for the prevention of parasitic infections.

BACKGROUND: Soil-transmitted infections such as Ascaris lumbricoides, Hookworm, Trichuris trichiura, and Strongyloides stercoralis are common in South India. Factors such as diet, sanitation, and living conditions play a role in the prevalence of helminthic diseases. Many individuals remain asymptomatic carriers. Timely intervention is essential to prevent these infections. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a prospective, randomized intervention study that enrolled 52 participants, excluding children, all of whom had parasitic infections. A prevalidated questionnaire was given to assess the risk
