BACKGROUND: Intrauterine adhesion (IUA) is caused by adhesion of the uterine cavity due to the damage of endometrium. Hysteroscopic adhesiolysis (HA) is the main treatment. The objective of the study was to investigate the obstetrical outcome in the third trimester of women who previously underwent HA.
METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study in the university-affiliated hospital. A total of 146 women with a history of HA who had given birth in their third trimester from May 2012 to May 2019 were enrolled (study group), while 292 women with a negative history of HA were matched for

STUDY OBJECTIVE: Angular pregnancy is a rare and life-threatening condition in which the embryo is implanted in the lateral angle of the uterine cavity, medial to the uterotubal junction and round ligament. Angular pregnancy is associated with a high risk of uterine rupture of about 23% [1]. No consensus has been achieved regarding the diagnostic and therapeutic approach of angular pregnancy [2]. Thus, the aim of this study was to report a case of hysteroscopic treatment of an angular pregnancy in a 34-year-old women.

Perforation during placement of hysteroscopic microinserts for permanent sterilization occurs in approximately .9% to 2.6% of women undergoing the procedure. Most of the time perforation results in intraperitoneal placement of the hysteroscopic microinsert requiring laparoscopy or laparotomy for removal of the device. Herein we present a case of hysteroscopic microinsert perforation with subsequent retroperitoneal identification of the device. This is the first such case to our knowledge of retroperitoneal identification and retrieval of a perforated device that required real-time fluoroscopy

The primary objective of this prospective comparative nonrandomized study was to assess the feasibility and safety of intraoperative transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS) during hysteroscopic metroplasty (HM). The secondary objective of the study was to assess whether TRUS facilitates complete removal of the uterine septum. Septate uterus was diagnosed by 3-dimensional transvaginal ultrasonography (3D-TVS) and confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging. In the control group (HM group; n = 18), patients underwent HM according to the traditional standard of operative hysteroscopy. In the study group (

In recent years, hysteroscopy, used as an outpatient office procedure, in combination with endometrial biopsy, has demonstrated its great potential as the method of first choice in the diagnosis of various gynecological abnormalities including abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) and endometrial cancer (CA). In patients suffering with AUB, the blood vessels of the endometrium are hypertrophic, whereas in the case of CA vascularization is irregular or anarchic. In this paper, a methodology for the classification of hysteroscopical images of endometrium using vessel and texture features is presented.

In recent years, hysteroscopic resection has become the treatment of choice for submucous fibroids. Technological advances enabled the use of bipolar resectoscopes, in the same way as new bipolar instruments used in laparoscopy or open surgery. Bipolar systems would be expected to eliminate the risks of hyponatremia and electrical burns. In evaluation studies, bipolar energy used in operative hysteroscopy is as effective in comparison with the unipolar system. However, no clinical study has yet shown increased reliability of bipolar resection to consider their use as a gold standard. Outpatien

A prototype flexible DV hysteroscope (Y0001) with a tip diameter of 4.8 mm was investigated through comparisons with two other hysteroscopes with subequal tip diameters: A rigid office hysteroscope (OHS) and a hystero-fiberscope (1T). The angle of view, area of coverage, and resolution were compared for each hysteroscope. The angles of view of Y0001 and 1T were found to be significantly larger than that of OHS (p<0.005 and p<0.02, respectively). Y0001 and 1T also had significantly larger areas of coverage than OHS (p<0.005 and p<0.05, respectively). At a focal distance of 5 mm, there was no si
