A new presbyopia-correcting intraocular lens (IOL) combining bifocal and extended-depth-of-focus profiles (Symbiose: Artis Symbiose Plus; Cristalens Industrie, Lannion, France) was introduced. Primary or secondary central nervous system (CNS) involvement by marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (MZBCL) is rare. A retrospective analysis of patients was done with MZBCL involving the CNS, diagnosed and treated at our institution between 2004 and 2010. CONTEXT: The ocular adnexal lymphomas (OAL) arise in the conjunctiva, orbit, lacrimal gland, and eyelids. To date, they have been clinically staged using the Ann Arbor staging system, first designed for Hodgkin and later for nodal, non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Visceral larva migrans (VLM) is endemic in Israel; therefore, a positive serology is not unusual in our general population. The clinical manifestations of the disease may mimic other clinical conditions. Sometimes life-threatening disorders have to be considered in the differential diagnosis. This diagnostic dilemma can be solved occasionally only by histological examination. We report two patients, one with a lymphoma-like presentation and the other with an intraocular tumoral mass suggesting retinoblastoma, and discuss the diagnostic difficulties.

PURPOSE: Sarcoidosis is a chronic idiopathic granulomatous inflammatory disease that can affect many major organ systems, primarily the lungs, and hence has remarkable clinical heterogeneity. At least 50% of patients with systemic sarcoidosis develop inflammatory eye disease, and in approximately 21% of cases, it may be the first clinical manifestation. Neuro-ocular involvement occurs in <3% of all sarcoidosis cases, and rarely involves the optic nerve. We describe an unusual case of an intraocular sarcoidosis presenting as an unclear optic nerve mass.

The present paper addresses the changes of clinical pattern and etiological factors in uveitis in China. Behçet's disease and Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome have been shown to be the two most common and the most severe sight-threatening uveitis entities in China. Uveitis or endophthalmitis caused by tuberculosis, syphilis, fungi and acquired immune deficiency syndrome has increased in frequency during recent years. Masquerade syndrome seen in intraocular-central nervous system lymphoma, retinoblastoma and metastases of cancers to the eye is not a rare disease.
