BACKGROUND: Uncut Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy, recently developed in China, is useful in the treatment of distal gastric cancer. This study is aimed at comparing laparoscopic gastric jejunum uncut Roux-en-Y anastomosis with conventional anastomosis in the surgical treatment of distal gastric malignancy.

Selenomethionine (SeMet) is a widely used food supplement. However, the research on the effect of SeMet on intestinal immune function is not enough. OBJECTIVE: Primary melanomas of the pineal region are exceedingly rare and may be difficult to diagnose. Clinical, radiological and pathological features as well as diagnostic procedures are discussed. CASE HISTORY We report herein on a 44-year-old man who presented with uncontrolled epileptic seizures. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a pineal mass hyperintense on T1-weighted and isointense on T2-weighted sequences with diffuse leptomeningeal involvement and intense homogeneous contrast enhancement after gadolinium administration. A frontal leptomeningeal and cortical biopsy was performed.

The small intestine is a very uncommon and peculiar site for metastasis from renal cell carcinoma (RCC). We present a clinical presentation of insidious and unusual development of a jejunal metastasis while having stable disease in a remainder of metastatic sites, in a patient undergoing immunotherapy with nivolumab. Due to the extreme rarity of metastatic renal cell carcinoma to the lumen of the small bowel, it is easy to overlook and misdiagnose symptoms of this pathologic entity, particularly when the remainder of metastatic disease responds well to ongoing therapy.

The aim of the present study has been to determine the effect of serotonin (5-HT) on the absorption of L-leucine across the rabbit jejunum. The results show that serotonin significantly diminishes the uptake and steady-state tissue accumulation and the mucosal to serosal flux of L-leucine. Dieulafoy's lesion is an uncommon cause of gastrointestinal bleeding. Hemorrhage occurs through mucosal erosion from an abnormally dilated submucosal artery. Although Dieulafoy's lesion is usually located in the stomach, it may occur anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract.
