Disgust and Other Negative Emotions in the Relationship between Mental Contamination and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder: A Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND: Mental contamination (MC) refers to feelings of internal filthiness associated with contamination obsessions. Ego-dystonic memories and thoughts can trigger MC, although it can also be activated by trauma, which is associated with the onset of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Research shows that MC, negative emotions and PTSD can occur simultaneously. Despite considerable interest from researchers and clinicians, to the best of our knowledge, no systematic review has been carried out on the relationship between disgust and other negative emotions with MC and PTSD. Therefore,

RNA-seq reproducibility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in laboratory models of cystic fibrosis.

Reproducibility is a fundamental expectation in science and enables investigators to have confidence in their research findings and the ability to compare data from disparate sources, but evaluating reproducibility can be elusive. For example, generating RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data includes multiple steps where variance can be introduced. Thus, it is unclear if RNA-seq data from different sources can be validly compared. While most studies on RNA-seq reproducibility focus on eukaryotes, we evaluate bias in bacteria using Pseudomonas aeruginosa gene expression data from five laboratory models

Iridoids as a Potential Hepatoprotective Class: A Review.

BACKGROUND: Liver disease rates are gradually increasing over the years, becoming a severe public health problem. The indiscriminate use of drugs associated with a rich fat diet, high consumption of alcoholic beverages, and exposure to viral infections and lipid peroxidative products are considered the chief factors for developing hepatic disorders. Owing to the absence of reliable hepatoprotective drugs in the therapeutic arsenal, since they present a high incidence of adverse reactions and/or lack of efficacy in some cases, liver diseases are widely treated with medicinal plants. Among them

Predictors of job burnout among Chinese nurses: a systematic review based on big data analysis.

Job burnout is an occupational hazard induced by prolonged exposure to excessive work-related stress -a state of physical or emotional exhaustion that also involves a sense of reduced accomplishment and loss of personal identity. Knowledge jobs involve many health-promoting features, but stress and burnout may be caused by the rapid increase in the knowledge intensity of work, new job demands, and emerging new professional subcultures emphasizing the excessive commitment to work. Although there are studies on job burnout and predictors among nurses worldwide, evidence specific to Chinese nurse
