Economic Evaluation of Home Chest Radiography for Patients With Limited Mobility in Greece: A Modeled Cost-Minimization Analysis From a Limited Societal Perspective.

Introduction Home radiography is an alternative diagnostic pathway for patients with limited mobility who would otherwise need to be transported to a hospital facility for chest radiography. Transporting these patients entails costs, attendant time, and organizational burden. The purpose of the present study was to compare the cost of two-view home chest radiography (frontal and lateral views) with that of the hospital pathway through a public hospital Emergency Department (ED) in clinically stable patients who do not require urgent medical assessment and who, in the absence of a home service,

Health-Related Quality of Life in Patients with Friedreich Ataxia Using Mobility Assistive Technologies: Limited Fit of the EQ-5D-3L Mobility Dimension.

INTRODUCTION: Friedreich Ataxia (FA) is a multisystem neurodegenerative disease. Affected individuals rely on mobility assistive technologies (MAT) (e.g. wheelchairs) and require long-term treatments and care. To analyse the patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL), the EuroQol 5 Dimension 3 Level survey (EQ-5D-3L)-a widely used and recommended generic measure-is used in clinical and in health economic studies. Concerns about using the instrument in mobility-impaired individuals who might have difficulties finding appropriate response options for mobility-related items led us to invest

Prevalence of mobility limitations among the elderly in Saudi Arabia: A secondary analysis of the 2025 Elderly Survey.

Mobility limitations in terms of walking and stair climbing among the elderly are associated with limitations in activities of daily living (ADL), higher annual healthcare expenditure, more hospitalizations, and increased mortality. However, evidence on the prevalence of mobility limitation among the elderly in Saudi Arabia remains limited. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate this issue using data from a national public survey. Data were obtained from the 2025 Elderly Survey, which was designed and administered by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) of Saudi Arabia. Secondary

Insights From Developmental and Formative Evaluations: Developing and Implementing a Limited-Term Housing Mobility Program.

This paper aims to demonstrate how evaluation methods can inform the development of a program, using the example of a novel housing mobility program. The limited availability of Housing Choice Vouchers (HCVs) and other affordable housing assistance restricts the ability to address US national housing needs; millions more households qualify for HCVs than receive them. Those with HCVs encounter challenges in using vouchers in so-called high-opportunity areas. To address the dearth of HCVs and difficulty using them, a collaboration between faculty at Ohio State University and the community develo

Healthy balance in physical activity, sedentary behavior, and sleep in older adults and people with limited mobility.

OBJECTIVE: To explore barriers and facilitators to physical activity, sedentary behavior, and sleep among low-income older adults (OA) and people with limited mobility (PLM) in urban and rural Mexico. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study with twelve focus groups. RESULTS: OA and PLM shared barriers and facilitators. Participants perceived more barriers than facilitators to physical activity, largely due to poor infrastructure, medical indications, physical fatigue, and safety concerns. Environmental factors such as noise, hot weather, insects, and screen use were shared barriers fo

Stop bashing the suburbs: Mobility limitations of older residents are less relevant as connectivity options expand.

Most older persons (age 65 and over) in the United States occupy suburban residential areas. Distinguishing where the older population lives is important because critics argue that the built environments of their suburban communities make it difficult for them to age in place successfully, that is, to have healthy, independent, active, and enjoyable lives. They point to their low population and building densities, long distances separating their residences from services, amenities, and commercial areas, and few transit and walking options. Consequently, when the mobility limitations of older r

Genetic influence on exercise-induced changes in physical function among mobility-limited older adults.

To date, physical exercise is the only intervention consistently demonstrated to attenuate age-related declines in physical function. However, variability exists in seniors' responsiveness to training. One potential source of variability is the insertion (I allele) or deletion (D allele) of a 287 bp fragment in intron 16 of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene. This polymorphism is known to influence a variety of physiological adaptions to exercise. However, evidence is inconclusive regarding the influence of this polymorphism on older adults' functional responses to exercise. This stu
