Using self-polymerization synthesis of boronate-affinity hollow stannic oxide based fragment template molecularly imprinted polymers for the selective recognition of polyphenols.

In this work, the boronate-affinity hollow stannic oxide based fragment template molecularly imprinted polymers (Bh@SnO2-FMIPs) were fabricated successfully. Polystyrene was used as sacrificial support, SnO2 was selected as inorganic matrix, surface imprinting using catechol as fragment template and 4-vinylphenylboronic acid as boronate-affinity functional monomer. A thin layer of poly 2-anilinoethanol (2-AE) was formed to coat the boronate-affinity hollow SnO2 surface through self-polymerization, it has strong hydrophilicity and limited residual boric acid content, avoiding non-specific bindi

Ratiometric fluorescence nanosensors based on core-shell structured carbon/CdTe quantum dots and surface molecularly imprinted polymers for the detection of sulfadiazine.

Sulfadiazine is an environmental pollutant derived from abuse of antibiotics. Its content in environmental water is closely related to human health. Thus, a novel dual-emission surface molecularly imprinted nanosensor is designed for the specific adsorption and detection of sulfadiazine. In the system, blue emissive carbon quantum dots wrapped with silica served as the internal reference signal for eliminating background interference, while red emissive thioglycolic acid modified CdTe quantum dots (CdTe QDs), which are low dimensional semiconductor materials by the combination of cadmium and t

Application of coated green source carbon dots with silica molecularly imprinted polymers as a fluorescence probe for selective and sensitive determination of phenobarbital.

Herein, a selective and sensitive fluorescence sensor was developed for the detection of phenobarbital, an epilepsy drug, using molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) coated on the surface of green source carbon dots (GSCDs). First, GSCDs were synthesized through a hydrothermal method using Cedrus as a carbon source. Then, a MIPs-GSCDs as a fluorescence probe was obtained by coating a thin film of silica on the surface of the GSCDs using a reverse micro emulsion method. In this step, phenobarbital, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) were applied as a template, a f

Molecularly Imprinted Polymer-Based Biosensors for Disease Biomarker Detection and Environmental Monitoring from Fundamental Principles to Emerging Applications.

Molecularly imprinted polymers have emerged as robust synthetic recognition materials for selective detection of disease biomarkers and environmental contaminants owing to their high physicochemical stability, low production cost and tunable binding site architecture. Compared with biological receptors, MIPs provide durable and reusable sensing platforms suitable for operation in complex matrices and harsh environmental conditions. Recent advances in imprinting strategies have significantly improved binding site accessibility, adsorption capacity and selectivity, enabling detection of a wide r

Wearable molecularly imprinted polymer sweat testosterone sensor for noninvasive auxiliary early-stage polycystic ovary syndrome at rest.

Androgens, comparable in importance to estrogens, are essential for female reproductive and physiological health. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), often caused by elevated testosterone (the primary androgen in females) is characterized by reproductive dysfunction, infertility, and metabolic abnormalities. However, current testosterone assays remain invasive, technically complex, and insufficiently sensitive, limiting their utility for early and noninvasive PCOS screening. This study developed a wearable molecularly imprinted (MIP) electrochemical sensor for highly sensitive in situ sweat test

Mid-Infrared Quantum Cascade Laser Sensor System with Molecularly Imprinted Polymer Solid Phase Enrichment for Diclofenac Monitoring.

Real-time monitoring of pharmaceutical micropollutants in wastewater remains challenging due to complex matrices and low target concentrations, limiting timely detection of emerging contaminants. We report a field-deployable wastewater spectroscopic analyzer (WSA) that combines mid-infrared quantum cascade laser spectroscopy (QCL) absorption spectroscopy with selective sample preconcentration to quantitatively identify diclofenac (DCF), a widely used anti-inflammatory drug and recognized EU priority pollutant, in wastewater. Raw samples are first filtered to remove particulates, then selective

Monitoring levamisole in food and the environment with high selectivity using an electrochemical chiral sensor comprising an MOF and molecularly imprinted polymer.

We used an enhanced recognition strategy to fabricate a novel levamisole-detecting chiral electrochemical sensor featuring a metal-organic framework (MOF) combined with a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP). We first synthesised a Cu/Zn-[benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid] (Cu/Zn-BTC) MOF as the molecular immobilisation and signal-amplifying unit, and then prepared the MIP (molecular recognition unit) using levamisole as the template on a glassy carbon electrode modified with Cu/Zn-BTC. We obtained a composite chiral sensor with enhanced recognition capability for levamisole after template remov

Sulfonamide-Selective Ambient Mass Spectrometry Ion Source Obtained by Modification of an Iron Sheet with a Hydrophilic Molecularly Imprinted Polymer.

We have described a sulfonamide-selective ambient ion source coupled with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) for selective extraction and determination of trace sulfonamide antibiotics. It is obtained by modifying an iron sheet with a sulfadiazine-templated hydrophilic molecularly imprinted polymer (SF-HMIP). It behaves as both an online extractor and a MS ion source. Five sulfonamide antibiotics, including sulfamethoxazole (SMZ), sulfamerazine (SMR), sulfisoxazole (SIZ), sulfathiazole (ST), and sulfameter (SMD), were chosen to evaluate SF-HMIP coupled with ESI-MS, which showed

Micro-gel thin film molecularly imprinted polymer coating for extraction of organophosphorus pesticides from water and beverage samples.

Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have become an important class of materials for selective and efficient adsorption of target analytes. Despite versatility of MIPs for fabrication in numerous formats, these materials have been primarily reported as solid phase extraction packing materials. An effective thin film MIP prepared on stainless steel substrate is reported here for high throughput enrichment of organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) from water and beverage samples followed by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis. The key factors controlling performance a

An NIR-light-responsive surface molecularly imprinted polymer for photoregulated drug release in aqueous solution through porcine tissue.

The application of photoresponsive surface molecularly imprinted polymers based on azobenzene is limited by the UV light source required and their poor water solubility. Reducing the phototoxicity and solvent toxicity of the polymers therefore presents a challenge. In this work, an NIR-light-responsive surface molecularly imprinted polymer was fabricated by atom transfer radical polymerization using up-conversion nanoparticles as the core, a hydrophilic green-light-responsive azobenzene derivative as the functional monomer, and a drug as the template. The up-conversion nanoparticles core emitt

A hollow porous molecularly imprinted polymer as a sorbent for the extraction of 7 macrolide antibiotics prior to their determination by HPLC-MS/MS.

A hollow porous molecularly imprinted polymer (HPMIP) is described for use in dispersive solid phase extraction of macrolide antibiotics (MACs). The HPMIP was prepared by using spiramycin as the template, methacrylic acid as the functional monomer, and mesoporous MCM-41 (Mobile Composition of Matter No. 41; with a size of about 100 nm) as a sacrificial support. The sorbent was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, transmission electron microscopy, nitrogen adsorption and thermo-gravimetric analysis. Several parameters affecting the extraction efficiency were optimized. A novel dual-function molecularly imprinted polymer on CdTe/ZnS quantum dots for highly selective and sensitive determination of ractopamine.

A novel dual-function material was synthesized by anchoring a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) layer on CdTe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) using a sol-gel with surface imprinting. The material exhibited highly selective and sensitive determination of ractopamine (RAC) through spectrofluorometry and solid-phase extraction (SPE) coupled with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). A series of adsorption experiments revealed that the material showed high selectivity, good adsorption capacity and a fast mass transfer rate. Fluorescence from the MIP-coated QDs was more strongly quenched by RAC t

Voltammetric sensor for barbituric acid based on a sol-gel derivated molecularly imprinted polymer brush grafted to graphite electrode.

A voltammetric sensor based on a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) brush grafted to sol-gel film on graphite electrode is reported for the selective and sensitive analysis of barbituric acid (BA) in aqueous, blood plasma, and urine samples. The modified electrode was preanodised at +1.6 V (vs. saturated calomel electrode), where encapsulated BA involved hydrophobically induced hydrogen bondings, in MIP cavities exposed at the film/solution interface, at pH 7.0. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was employed to characterise the surface morphology of the resultant imprinted film of MIP brush.

Facile and scalable fabrication of molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) sensors on poriferous laser-engraved graphene electrodes for stress monitoring.

Monitoring cortisol levels is essential for understanding the body's response to stress. Traditional cortisol testing is confined to centralized labs, and current portable platforms are based on slow and complex assays. Here, we introduce a portable, disposable, non-invasive, and sensitive electrochemical sensor strip created using electropolymerized molecularly imprinted polymers (eMIPs) on laser engraved graphene (LEG) electrodes for rapid, simple, and reliable salivary cortisol detection. Herein, the characteristics of LEGs generated on a polyimide (PI) film with different laser processing

Single molecularly imprinted polymer platform integrating 23 in situ regeneration and antifouling for electrochemical cortisol detection in complex matrices.

The reusability of molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-based biosensors is severely limited by inefficient template removal suppressing in situ regeneration and surface fouling in complex matrices. While recent work demonstrated the feasibility of in situ electrostatic regeneration for MIPs, no study has yet integrated antifouling capability with regeneration ability in a single MIP platform. Here, we reported the first integration of antifouling and ultrahigh in situ regeneration capabilities in a single MIP biosensor for electrochemical cortisol detection in complex biological sweat and real
