[Factors associated with the delay in primary surgical treatment of cleft lip and palate in Brazil: a multilevel analysis].

This study analyzed the delay in the primary surgical treatment of patients with cleft lip and palate in Brazil performed under the Unified Health System (SUS), and the effect of the sociodemographic context and municipal socioeconomic indicators on access to this treatment (2009-2013). Data from the Decentralized Hospital Information System relating to all hospital authorization forms paid for primary cleft lip and/or palate surgeries and socioeconomic data (2010) was used. The ages recommended by the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (12 months for lip surgeries and 18 months fo

Variations in Emotional, Sexual, and Physical Intimate Partner Violence Among Women in Uganda: A Multilevel Analysis.

Evidence shows that a significant proportion of ever-partnered women suffer some form of intimate partner violence (IPV) perpetuated by male partners. The prevalence of IPV in sub-Saharan African countries is considerably higher than global estimates. Although existing studies show the effect of women's and intimate male partner's characteristics on IPV, knowledge on how these factors increase or reduce women's risk to specific types of IPV is limited. Using the 2016 Ugandan Demographic and Health Survey (UDHS), we examine regional variations in women's and intimate male partner's characterist

Prevalence and factors associated with surfactant use in Brazilian Neonatal Intensive Care Units: A multilevel analysis.

The treatment with exogenous surfactant reduces mortality and the risk of complications in preterm newborns with Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Higher usage levels have been associated with individual and institutional factors. The study aimed to identify these factors associated with use of this technology in 16 public Brazilian Neonatal Units using logistic multilevel analysis. In a sample of 630 newborns the use at some time was 82.6%. Only 24.7% made use of this technology up to two hours after birth. An intraclass correlation of 0.30 showed that 30% of the variance in the use of exogenous

Cross-national and multilevel correlates of partner violence: an analysis of data from population-based surveys.

BACKGROUND: On average, intimate partner violence affects nearly one in three women worldwide within their lifetime. But the distribution of partner violence is highly uneven, with a prevalence of less than 4% in the past 12 months in many high-income countries compared with at least 40% in some low-income settings. Little is known about the factors that drive the geographical distribution of partner violence or how macro-level factors might combine with individual-level factors to affect individual women's risk of intimate partner violence. We aimed to assess the role that women's status and

Fusion Outcomes of GLP-1 Agonist Therapy in Multilevel Cervical Spinal Fusion: A Propensity-Matched Analysis.

STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective analysis. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of GLP-1 agonist therapy upon the incidence of pseudarthrosis in patients undergoing multilevel cervical spinal fusion. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: The rising prevalence of obesity and diabetes mellitus has rendered the usage of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1) agonists increasingly commonplace since their introduction in 2005. However, there is a dearth of evidence to suggest whether outcomes of multilevel cervical spinal fusion differ in patients treated with GLP-1 agonists. This study assesses rates of pseuda

EEG emotion recognition via multilevel entropy analysis: The power of entropy of entropy on phase dynamics.

Emotion recognition from EEG signals has become a central task in affective computing, offering non-invasive insight into human emotional states. Due to the nonlinear and nonstationary nature of EEG, entropy-based features have gained prominence as reliable indicators of brain complexity. However, traditional entropy metrics-such as Shannon entropy (ShanEn) and its variants-often lack sensitivity to transient dynamics and multiscale irregularities in the brain's electrical activity. This study introduces a novel application of Entropy of Entropy (EoE) to EEG phase series (EoE - phase), aiming

Combined effects of warming and hypoxia on aquatic ectotherms: A multilevel meta-analysis of physiological and fitness responses.

The performance of aquatic ectotherms depends on temperature and dissolved oxygen. Temperature shapes metabolic demand, while oxygen limits aerobic capacity. As warming and hypoxia often occur together, their combined effects across biological levels need clearer synthesis. We analyzed 40 empirical studies using multilevel meta-analysis and phylogenetic sensitivity analyses. To separate physiological deviation from fitness outcomes, we grouped endpoints into two categories: directional responses (fitness traits such as survival and growth) and deviation-based responses (the absolute magnitude
