Podoplanin is a type I integral membrane glycoprotein that, because it is expressed in lymphatic endothelium, but not in vascular blood vessel endothelial cells, is commonly used in the identification of lymphatic endothelial differentiation in vascular endothelial neoplasms and lymphatic invasion by tumor. This case involves a 16-year-old woman with a posterior cervical tumor. Histologically, it was found to be a extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP). Immunohistochemically, IgG was present in the plasma cells that were shown to be atypia by the PAP method. Laboratory data revealed no other abnormalities. A surgical excision of the tumor was performed with a dissection of the relevant lymph nodes. Although irradiation and chemotherapy were administered postoperatively, multiple bone metastasis was found a month after the operation, and the patient died 8 months later.

INTRODUCTION: Perineural invasion is regarded as a factor associated with local recurrence of pancreatic cancer.
AIM: To examine perineural invasion of pancreatic cancer pathologically and clinically.
METHODOLOGY: In 24 cases of surgically resected pancreatic cancer, correlations among the degree of perineural invasion, differentiation, interstitial connective tissue, lymph node metastasis, and survival rate were examined. Enlargement of lymph nodes can be due to a variety of benign and malignant causes. The most common malignant cause is invasive ductal carcinoma, which is usually visualized with mammography. Excluding breast cancer, other causes of abnormal lymph nodes that produce a negative mammogram include lymphoma, metastases from other malignancies, and benign etiologies such as inflammatory processes, infectious diseases, collagen vascular diseases, and miscellaneous causes. Regional silicone gel migration from a ruptured breast implant has been reported at different locations including the upper extremity, chest wall muscles, axilla and back. We report a patient who presented with an axillary mass that mimicked a regional recurrence 5 years after breast cancer reconstruction with a latissimus dorsi musculocutaneous flap and silicon gel expander-prosthesis. A variety of pathological changes with clinical and prognostic significance is described in axillary lymph nodes removed at mastectomy. We studied 572 lymph nodes removed from 43 women and 1 man during a radical or modified radical mastectomy performed for carcinoma of the breast. We found that in about one-third of the specimens some degree of fat infiltration, or changes, was present; metastases were found in either fatty or nonfatty lymph nodes. We conclude that the presence of fat in axillary lymph nodes does not influence implantation of tumor cells from a primary carcinoma of the breast

OBJECTIVE: IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a recently described fibroinflammatory disorder. The most common presentations include salivary and lacrimal gland hypertrophy, orbitary disease, autoimmune pancreatitis, retroperitoneal fibrosis, and tubulointerstitial nephritis. Lymphoplasmacytic infiltration, fibrosis, IgG4+ cell hyperplasia, and elevated IgG4 serum levels are the primary pathophysiological findings related to the disease. We describe for the first time the epidemiology and clinical manifestations in our country.

CASE: A 72-year-old man presented 20 years after a Morel-Lavallée (ML) lesion with pain and drainage. Biopsies of the lesion and lymph nodes were positive for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). There was no cutaneous involvement or distant metastasis. After chemotherapy and radiation, he underwent resection of the lesion and lymph nodes with flap closure. Two months postoperatively, he unfortunately developed malignant pleural effusions, hypercalcemia, and kidney injury and was eventually transferred to hospice care and died.
CONCLUSION: This is the first report of SCC arising from a ML lesion. C

Squamous cell carcinoma of the oesophagus has a poor prognosis, owing in part to the compromised status of the patients. Early oesophageal cancer is rarely diagnosed, even if its endoscopic aspects are well known. From the mucosa, the disease progresses step by step, and also via the submucosa. Furthermore, multiple locations are not uncommon. Bulky tumours progressively obstruct the oesophageal lumen while infiltrative tumours invade the oesophageal layers, and then the perioesophageal fat and the mediastinal organs. Involvement of mediastinal, cervical and abdominal lymph nodes occurs early.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the impact of superficial ultrasonography (US) on clinical management of melanoma.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Superficial US in areas at high risk for local recurrence or nodal metastases was performed in 33 patients with cutaneous melanoma.
