From data to innovation: how digital leadership cultivates employees' data psychological ownership through perceived data value.

PURPOSE: Against the backdrop of the rapid development of the digital economy, stimulating employees' data-driven innovative behavior has become a key issue in organizational management. This study aims to explore how perceived data value affects employee innovative behavior, the mediating role of data asset psychological ownership, and the moderating role of digital leadership. METHODOLOGY: Drawing on psychological ownership theory and conservation of resources theory, this study constructs a moderated mediation model with digital leadership as a contextual variable. Questionnaire data were

Jogging imagery congruent with avatar gait is associated with enhanced avatar ownership during multimodal BCI control.

OBJECTIVE: Multimodal brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) integrate neural and non-neural signals to enable intuitive interaction with external devices. However, BCI controllability is still predominantly evaluated based on neural signal strength, leaving the role of embodied self-experience largely unclear. Here, we investigated how kinesthetic congruence between motor imagery (MI) and avatar gait under BCI control contributes to subjective embodiment. APPROACH: Participants navigated a virtual avatar with a jogging gait through a curved course using a multimodal BCI. Locomotion was controlled

Mental health facility ownership and smoking cessation services: a facility-level analysis across the United States.

BACKGROUND: In the U.S., tobacco use affects 19.8% of adults (49.2 million) as of 2022, with rates highest among those with mental health conditions. Mental health facilities offering cessation counseling present critical opportunities to support these vulnerable populations. This study aims to examine how ownership structure influences smoking cessation counseling provision in U.S. outpatient mental health facilities. METHOD: This cross-sectional study derived data on 9,645 outpatient (OPD) mental facilities from the 2019 N-MHSS-a census of all public and private mental health treatment faci

Key Stakeholder Perceptions of Standard vs. Total Cost of Ownership: A Procurement Analysis for Orthopaedic-Powered Instruments.

This study compares standard procurement methodology (SPM) with total cost of ownership (TCO) methodology for the procurement of orthopaedic-powered instruments. The authors conducted semi-structured standardized interviews with key hospital procurement stakeholders following consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research. Of the 33 hospital procurement stakeholders interviewed, all (100%) reported that SPM would be easier to use than TCO. However, only six (18%) preferred SPM over TCO. Barriers to the adoption of TCO emerged as a theme. Creating TCO frameworks can help to simplify t

Feeling of Ownership over an Embodied Avatar's Hand Brings About Fast Changes of Fronto-Parietal Cortical Dynamics.

When we look at our body parts, we are immediately aware that they belong to us and we rarely doubt about the integrity, continuity, and sense of ownership of our body. Despite this certainty, immersive virtual reality (IVR) may lead to a strong feeling of embodiment over an artificial body part seen from a first-person perspective (1PP). Although such feeling of ownership (FO) has been described in different situations, it is not yet understood how this phenomenon is generated at neural level. To track the real-time brain dynamics associated with FO, we delivered transcranial magnetic stimuli

Association Between Ownership of Imaging Equipment and Appropriateness of Staging Positron-Emission Tomography in Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Physician ownership of imaging equipment has been shown to be associated with greater use of low-value imaging. However, it is unclear whether ownership also influences utilization of appropriate imaging. We conducted a cohort study of older adults diagnosed with three non-Hodgkin lymphomas with distinct guideline recommendations concerning the use of positron emission tomography (PET) during staging (recommended, not recommended, or equivocal). We found patients who were treated by oncologists with PET ownership were more likely to receive a staging PET regardless of lymphoma subtype. However

Rethinking success in public health education and promotion: a narrative ownership framework for sustainable health behavior change.

Public health education and promotion has largely evaluated success in terms of measurable behavioral outcomes. While this outcome-centered logic has advanced intervention science, behavior change is frequently not sustained once programs end, and outcome indicators alone cannot show how change is experienced, interpreted, and held over time. The objective of this paper is to advance and operationalize the hypothesis that outcome-only definitions of success are epistemologically incomplete and ethically fragile. We proceed conceptually, identifying two structural limitations of outcome-centere

From AI dependence to reflective collaboration: psychological ownership, competency anxiety, and perceived support in AI-assisted learning.

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) can improve efficiency in academic work. However, it also raises a central psychological question: when AI helps produce a task, why do some learners still experience the final work as their own, whereas others experience it as polished but psychologically distant? This study examines psychological ownership and competency anxiety in AI-assisted learning, distinguishing between dependent AI outsourcing and reflective human-AI collaboration. An exploratory qualitative interview-based design with supplementary background information was used. The backgr

When Zero Investment Does Not Mean Zero Financial Interest: Risks of Interpreting Ownership Data in Open Payments.

Background Open Payments is a national transparency program administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that publicly reports financial relationships between reporting entities and covered recipients, including ownership and investment interests. The ownership file reports the amount invested during a single program year alongside the cumulative value of the interest held, so a report of zero investment accompanied by a positive cumulative value cannot establish when or how the interest was acquired. We measured how often this combination appears and how much investmen

Gaze strategy and sense of ownership in learning prosthetic control: a comparative study using wearable eye tracking.

BACKGROUND: Prosthetic control requires not only motor execution but also the development of adaptive visual strategies. Myoelectric prostheses provide limited sensory feedback and therefore rely more heavily on visual monitoring. However, learning-related changes in gaze behavior-including fixation patterns and physiological indices such as blink rate-remain underexplored. This study aimed to investigate how gaze behavior changes and the sense of ownership change during the learning of body-powered and myoelectric prosthetic control, and how these effects differ depending on hand dominance.

BACKGROUND: Dog ownership has been reported to positively influence the lives of individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) fostering social connection, a sense of belonging, and greater daily structure. However, the specific ways in which dog ownership impacts substance use and mental health remain underexplored. This study aimed to explore how people with SUD perceived that dog ownership affected their use of substances and mental health characteristics. Mobile phone ownership, social media use, and substance use at ages 11-13 in the ABCD study.

INTRODUCTION: There is ongoing concern about the impact of increasing use of social media and digital devices on unhealthy behaviors such as substance use in youth. Mobile phone and social media use have been associated with substance use in adolescent and young adult samples, but few studies have evaluated these relationships in younger samples. METHODS: This secondary analysis of data drawn from the ABCD Study examined associations between youth-reported mobile phone ownership and social media use at age 11-12 and use of alcohol, nicotine/tobacco, and cannabis over the next 18 months. Does the experience of ownership over a rubber hand change body size perception in anorexia nervosa patients?

Anorexia nervosa (AN) patients show disturbances in body size experience. Here, malleability of body representation was assessed by inducing the Rubber Hand Illusion (RHI). Specifically the impact of the illusion on body size estimation was investigated. Thirty AN patients and thirty healthy females participated. The RHI was induced synchronously (experimental condition) and asynchronously (control condition) Both before and after induction of the RHI participants were asked to estimate the size of their own and the rubber hand. The results showed that AN patients had a stronger experience of

Using organizational collaboration and community partnerships to transition families from homelessness to home ownership: the HomeBuy5 program.

For more than a decade, the HomeBuy5 Program has successfully helped families who were homeless find an apartment, while working with them to develop a plan to move from homelessness to homeownership. This article provides an historical overview of how the program developed and evolved, a detailed discussion of the program's process and structure, the role of organizational collaboration and community partners, and demographic information on the families that have been served. It is argued that this program can be a prototype for other communities as they increase their efforts to eliminate ho
