We observed extrarenal abnormalities during renal flow scintigraphy and retrospectively reviewed 90 patient studies to determine the types and frequencies of such abnormal findings. For each routine Tc-99m-DTPA renal flow study, we obtained nine 2-second sequential images, which included the heart, abdominal aorta, spleen and kidneys. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of an external counting technique to provide daily monitoring of kidney transplant function by measuring the renal clearance of Tc-99m(Sn)DTPA. During the first few weeks following transplant, 15 patients had their renal clearance of Tc-99m DTPA measured daily over periods of 5-24 hr. In order to obtain more information on the long-term changes in renal function of hydronephrotic kidneys, we have measured the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in rats with a congenital or an experimental unilateral hydronephrotic kidney (HK). BACKGROUND: Zinc (Zn) deficiency in crops is commonly aggravated by high levels of phosphorus (P) in soil. In this work, the initial performance of pot-growing maize in response to the available P and Zn in soils with low available Zn and to the application of P and Zn fertilizers was investigated.

Dynamic renal studies were performed with 99mTc-diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (99mTc-DTPA). The results were analyzed by the method of mathematical deconvolution in order to obtain the impulse response function of the kidney. Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) is the most common cause of pneumonia in HIV antibody positive patients, but other pneumonias remain important, i.e. streptococcal and mycobacterial infections. A definitive diagnosis relies on obtaining samples from the lung either noninvasively (induced sputum), or invasively (bronchoalveolar lavage, transbronchial or open lung biopsy).
