Quality appraisal tools used in qualitative evidence syntheses of maternity care research: A scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Quality appraisal (QA) is an expected component when conducting qualitative evidence syntheses (QES). Multiple QA tools are available, however, rendering reviewers' decision-making on choice of tool challenging. AIM: To identify and assess QA tools used in published QES of maternity care research. METHODS: Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) guidance for the conduct of scoping reviews was used. Published QES were included if they reported on pregnant or postpartum women, their partners, or maternity care professionals, in any setting or geographical location. MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, P

Making with the Trouble: Un/Enfolding Posthuman Participants with Young People in Creative Post-Qualitative Research.

This paper explores how 'what matters' can surface in multisensory arts-informed projects as ways for young people to survive and stay with gender and sexuality troubles that are always more than theirs. Situated in an ex-mining post-industrial locale, we make an agential cut in a longitudinal research and engagement project called Unboxing Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) to open up a rare case study of entangled 'creative coproduction' (Renold and Ivinson forthcoming). Supported by an artist-in-residence teacher assistant, composer and filmmaker, we explore the making and matterin

Knowledge and Perceptions of Hepatitis B in Immigrant Populations: A Systematic Review and Thematic Synthesis of Qualitative Research.

An estimated 254 million people live with hepatitis B worldwide, with only 13% of people diagnosed and 3% receiving antiviral treatment. Without timely treatment, people with hepatitis B risk developing liver damage and liver cancer. In countries like Australia, where most people with hepatitis B are born in countries with higher prevalence, it is important that the knowledge and perceptions of hepatitis B in immigrant populations are explored to improve engagement in care. This review sought to systematically identify and synthesise qualitative research findings describing the knowledge and p
