We examined manganese uptake and translocation in 30-year-old silver fir trees (Abies alba Mill.) showing severe symptoms of needle chlorosis by analyzing both xylem and phloem sap of shoots and an extract of root sap originating from both xylem and phloem elements. Manganese concentrations in shoot xylem and phloem sap were significantly lower in chlorotic trees than in neighboring healthy trees. The Mn concentration of root sap was also lower in these Mn-deficient trees than in healthy trees, indicating reduced Mn uptake by Mn-deficient trees. Although Mn deficiency had no effect on the Mn c

Quantitative analysis of caffeoylquinic acids (CQAs) is challenging due to their structural similarities and susceptibility to isomerization and degradation. To overcome these limitations, a pH-adjusted quantitative 1H NMR (qHNMR) method is proposed for evaluating different CQAs in the extracts using a MeOD/HEPES-d18 buffer. This method was applied to measure the concentrations of chlorogenic acid (1) and 3,5-di-CQA (4) in Cuscuta japonica extract, and of chlorogenic acid (1) in green coffee bean extracts. A comparison of quantum mechanics (QM)-based and non-quantum mechanics-based approaches

Long-term use of Bordeaux mixture in French vineyards has led to elevated copper levels in soils, many of which are now colonised by false yellowhead after vineyard abandonment. This species provides a relevant model to study plant-soil interactions under copper stress. This study investigated how soil copper contamination affects plant growth in microcosms, focusing on rhizosphere microbial communities and plant metabolomic responses. A complementary approach combining metabarcoding and untargeted metabolomics was used to identify candidate biomarkers of copper contamination. Copper levels we
