Random Forest Model for the Prediction of Herbal-Induced Liver Injury: Application to Molecules from the West African Pharmacopoeia.

Herbal medicines play a crucial role in primary healthcare across West Africa, yet their potential for liver toxicity remains poorly documented. Predicting herbal-induced liver injury is therefore essential to ensure the safe use of traditional remedies. A Random Forest model was developed to predict hepatotoxicity using a combined feature set of nine physicochemical descriptors and Morgan fingerprints R2 (1024 bits). The training dataset included reference compounds from the FDA DILIst dataset, while external validation was performed on the Greene dataset. Model performance was assessed using

Random forest insights in prioritizing factors and risk areas of soil polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in an urban agglomeration area.

Changes in the soil environment due to urbanization pose a challenge to predict the health risks from soil PAHs on a regional scale. The sources and distributions of PAHs in the soil of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Urban Agglomeration in China were analyzed using positive matrix factorization (PMF), GIS mapping, and the Random Forest (RF) model to estimate the spatiotemporal variations in health risks. The measured concentration of PAHs in the soil ranged from 20.1 to 15,233.1 μg/kg with a mean of 493.2 μg/kg. PMF and diagnostic ratios identified the primary sources of soil PAHs as transporta

Precision mapping of snail habitat in lake and marshland areas: Integrating environmental and textural indicators using Random Forest modeling.

Schistosomiasis japonica continues to pose a significant public health challenge in China, primarily due to the widespread distribution of Oncomelania hupensis, the sole intermediate host of Schistosoma. This study aims to address the constraints of existing remote sensing analyses for identifying snail habitats, which frequently neglect spatial scale and seasonal variations. To this end, we adopt a multi-source data-driven Random Forest approach that integrates bottomland and ground-surface texture data with traditional environmental variables, enhancing the accuracy of snail habitat assessme

Prediction of serine phosphorylation sites mapping on Schizosaccharomyces Pombe by fusing three encoding schemes with the random forest classifier.

Serine phosphorylation is one type of protein post-translational modifications (PTMs), which plays an essential role in various cellular processes and disease pathogenesis. Numerous methods are used for the prediction of phosphorylation sites. However, the traditional wet-lab based experimental approaches are time-consuming, laborious, and expensive. In this work, a computational predictor was proposed to predict serine phosphorylation sites mapping on Schizosaccharomyces pombe (SP) by the fusion of three encoding schemes namely k-spaced amino acid pair composition (CKSAAP), binary and amino a

Developing random forest based QSAR models for predicting the mixture toxicity of TiO2 based nano-mixtures to Daphnia magna.

During emission, TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) might meet various chemicals, including metal ions and organic compounds in aquatic environments (e.g., surface water, sediments). At environmentally safe concentrations, combinations of both TiO2 NPs and those chemicals might cause cocktail effects (i.e., mixture toxicity) to aquatic organisms. Previous models such as concentration addition and independent action require dose-response curves of single components in the mixtures to predict the mixture toxicity. Structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models might predict the toxicity of nano-mixtures wi
