Estimated benefits and willingness of remote monitoring in IBD patients in remission under maintenance therapy: results of a questionnaire in a tertiary referral centre.

BACKGROUND: STRIDE II guidelines highlight the importance of closely monitoring patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) to assess therapy effectiveness and predict or manage flares. However, with a growing patient population, the outpatient clinic capacity is strained, and many patients, especially those in longterm remission, may not require frequent in-person visits. This study aims to assess the interest for optimizing resources through remote monitoring for patients with IBD in a high-volume referral centre. METHODS: An anonymous survey was conducted in 281 adult IBD patients, eith

Blood pressure outcomes at 18 months in primary care patients prescribed remote physiological monitoring for hypertension: a prospective cohort study.

This pragmatic matched cohort study using EHR data extended the follow up to 18 months for BP outcomes comparing individuals prescribed remote patient monitoring (n = 288) and temporally-matched controls (n = 1152) from six primary care practices. After 18 months, the RPM-prescribed cohort had greater BP control < 140/90 mm Hg (RPM cohort: 71.5%, control cohort: 51.9%, p < 0.001) and lower systolic BP (131.6 versus 136.0 mm Hg, p = 0.004) using office and home measurements. BP control at 18 months assessed by office measurements only was also higher in the RPM group (62.2% versus 51.9%, p = 0.

Blood pressure outcomes at 12 months in primary care patients prescribed remote physiological monitoring for hypertension: a prospective cohort study.

Remote patient monitoring (RPM) for hypertension enables automatic transmission of blood pressure (BP) and pulse into the electronic health record (EHR), but its effectiveness in primary care is unknown. This pragmatic matched cohort study using EHR data compared BP outcomes between individuals prescribed RPM and temporally-matched controls from six primary care practices. We retrospectively created a cohort of 288 Medicare-enrolled patients prescribed BP RPM (cases) and 1152 propensity score-matched controls (1:4). Matching was based on age, sex, systolic blood pressure (SBP), marital status,

Remote and Long-Term Self-Monitoring of Electroencephalographic and Noninvasive Measurable Variables at Home in Patients With Epilepsy (EEG@HOME): Protocol for an Observational Study.

BACKGROUND: Epileptic seizures are spontaneous events that severely affect the lives of patients due to their recurrence and unpredictability. The integration of new wearable and mobile technologies to collect electroencephalographic (EEG) and extracerebral signals in a portable system might be the solution to prospectively identify times of seizure occurrence or propensity. The performances of several seizure detection devices have been assessed by validated studies, and patient perspectives on wearables have been explored to better match their needs. Despite this, there is a major gap in the

Patients' and Nurses' Experiences and Perceptions of Remote Monitoring of Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators in Heart Failure: Cross-Sectional, Descriptive, Mixed Methods Study.

BACKGROUND: The new generation of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) supports wireless technology, which enables remote patient monitoring (RPM) of the device. In Sweden, it is mainly registered nurses with advanced education and training in ICD devices who handle the arrhythmias and technical issues of the remote transmissions. Previous studies have largely focused on the perceptions of physicians, and it has not been explored how the patients' and nurses' experiences of RPM correspond to each other. OBJECTIVE: Our objective is to describe, explore, and compare the experiences an

Effects of home-based cardiac exercise rehabilitation with remote electrocardiogram monitoring in patients with chronic heart failure: a study protocol for a randomised controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) can benefit from exercise rehabilitation (ER) with significant improvements in exercise capacity, quality of life and reduction in hospitalisations. Despite its reported benefits, only a small number of patients with CHF attend ER due to poor adherence, and improper exercise may even lead to adverse events. Remote ECG monitoring system (REMS) has the potential to overcome these obstacles. We hypothesise that home-based cardiac ER using REMS in CHF patients is effective compared with conventional ER without monitoring. METHODS AND ANALYSI

Facilitators and Barriers to Implementing a Remote Monitoring Model of Care for Stable Patients With Axial Spondyloarthritis Using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research: Qualitative Study.

BACKGROUND: Close follow-up of stable patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) presents a financial burden and inconvenience to patients. A remote monitoring patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs)-based model of care (PROMise) was designed to reduce the frequency of in-person consultations for stable patients with axSpA. However, little is known about the facilitators and barriers of implementing a remote monitoring PROMise. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to understand the facilitators and barriers, as well as the mitigation strategies to implementing a PROMise in the Singapore context.
