Sebaceous glands are cutaneous annexes located in the dermis. Focal spots of ectopy of these glands are frequently identified in ectodermal tissues: they represent Fordyce's disease. However, only a few cases of ectopic sebaceous glands have been mentioned in non-ectodermic tissue. Fordyce spots of esophageal location are unusual, and most of them have been diagnosed from biopsy specimens. We report two cases of ectopic sebaceous glands in esophagus, the first diagnosed from a resected specimen, the second from biopsies. A literature review is carried out.

BACKGROUND: The human skin, especially the sebaceous gland, is a steroidogenic organ similar to the gonads and adrenal cortex, possessing all the enzymes required for steroid sex-hormone synthesis and metabolism. Factors regulating cutaneous steroidogenesis associated with disease status remain largely unknown.
OBJECTIVE: We hypothesized that transcription factors involved in sex formation and regulation of steroidogenesis in the classical steroidogenic organs are also expressed in the sebaceous glands. Their possible role in the pathogenesis of acne were investigated.

PURPOSE: To report the outcomes of platinum-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) for eyelid and periocular sebaceous gland carcinoma (eSGC).
METHODS: Retrospective study of 25 patients.
RESULTS: The mean age at presentation of eSGC was 59 years. The mean tumor basal diameter was 46 mm. This article reported four cases of sebaceous gland carcinoma of the eyelid with other tumors. Among them, three cases were co-occurred with other ocular tumors, two cases with visceral malignancies, and one case with chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma. BACKGROUND: Salivary gland lymphadenoma (LAD) is a rare benign neoplasm comprising sebaceous (SLAD) and nonsebaceous (NSLAD) types. Despite established histologic criteria, limited data on cytomorphology, tumor heterogeneity, and overlap with other entities make the diagnosis of LAD by fine needle aspiration (FNA) challenging.
