BACKGROUND/AIMS: As the number of Asian patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has increased recently, there is a growing need to improve IBD care in this region. This study is aimed at determining how Asian countries are currently dealing with their IBD patients in terms of diagnosis.
METHODS: A questionnaire was designed by the organizing committee of Asian Organization for Crohn's and Colitis, for a multinational web-based survey conducted between March 2014 and May 2014.

Japanese encephalitis (JE) is a mosquito-borne zoonotic neurological disease caused by Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV). JEV is the most common cause of viral encephalitis in Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific Rim. Pediatric intussusception has been linked to seasonality and ambient temperature, but few studies have examined its short-term temperature dependence at a daily resolution. This study investigated the association between daily ambient temperature and the incidence of pediatric intestinal intussusception. Claims data from the National Health Insurance Service were analyzed for pediatric patients (≤ 10 years old) who underwent procedural or surgical treatment for intussusception in Seoul from 2009 to 2019. Daily average temperature data were obtained from the Korea Meteorological Administration.

To examine the prevalence of human pathogens carried by rats in urban areas in Hanoi and Hai Phong, Vietnam, we live-trapped 100 rats in January 2011 and screened them for a panel of bacteria and viruses. Japanese encephalitis (JE) cases have been increasingly reported recently especially in Seoul and its vicinity. Pigs are known as amplifying host of JE virus (JEV), but do not play an important role in these recent events because pig-breeding is not common in Seoul. STUDY DESIGN: Case report
OBJECTIVE: To examine the resolution of holocord myelopathy based on the hypothesis of altered cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics.
SETTING: Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul, Korea.
METHOD: We describe a case of thoracic stenosis with holocord myelopathy, which suggests an alternative mechanism for the myelopathy.
RESULT: Decompression of the thoracic stenosis resulted in the resolution of holocord myelopathy.
