A prospective survey of prenatal use of prescription drugs in Tasmania yielded detailed information on drug exposure, delivery and outcome for 56,037 births from 1982 to 1989. First trimester drug use was reported by 30.9% of women, and 17.9% used only supplements of vitamins and/or minerals; 40% used alcohol during the first trimester, and 28.8% smoked cigarettes. There were 1,035 (1.85%) congenital malformations, of which 885 (85.5%) were major. More than four decades ago, Rickettsia australis was discovered to be the etiologic agent of Queensland tick typhus (QTT), yet many unanswered questions persist about the ecology, epidemiology, and clinical features of this disease. AIM: To explore the perception of social support in individuals living with a diabetic foot in order to influence future service delivery in management of similar individuals.
METHOD: A purposive sample of eight participants with a diabetic foot were recruited from a public podiatry service in Tasmania, Australia. A hermeneutic phenomenology qualitative approach was used with individual semi-structured interviews conducted using an interview guide designed to gain insight into five pre-determined measures of social support. Hybrid thematic analysis was used to produce the final results.

There have been over 40 cardiac diseases with a genetic cause identified to date. The management of most genetic cardiac diseases (GCDs) now necessitates multidisciplinary care, including the provision of genetic counselling.
