Whole body-diffusion weighted imaging for the assessment of treatment response in hairy cell leukaemia: A positive first step.

We present the case of a patient diagnosed with hairy cell leukaemia (HCL) who subsequently developed biopsy confirmed bone lesions and underwent multiple lines of therapy. The reported incidence of bone lesions in HCL is 3%, and bony involvement can be associated with high tumour burden and aggressive disease. The commonly lytic bone lesions in HCL are difficult to accurately assess for response. Whole body diffusion weighted imaging (WB-DWI) has been used clinically in multiple myeloma; we postulate clinical utility in HCL, where hypercellularity also applies. In our case, WB-DWI appears to

Whole-Body Dynamic PET Imaging of Half-Life Extended Variable Domains of Heavy Chain-Only Antibodies: Beyond Blood Pharmacokinetics.

Nanobody molecules are single-domain antibodies derived from stable and fully functional heavy-chain-only (VHH) camelid antibodies. Due to their small size, approximately 15 kDa, their tissue distribution differs from that of conventional antibodies. This study investigates the whole-body pharmacokinetics (WBPK) and specific binding of half-life extended VHHs (HLE-VHHs) using dynamic whole-body immunoPET imaging in nonhuman primates. A HLE-VHH targeting the IL-6 receptor (CD126-VHH) and its nontargeting control (IRR-VHH) were evaluated in vivo after zirconium-89 radiolabeling. We compared micr

Effect of lumbosacral transitional vertebrae on sagittal balance of lumbo-pelvic complexity assessed by quantitative whole-body CT imaging.

BACKGROUND: The variation at the lumbosacral junction certainly results in occult alignment changes in the lumbo-pelvic complexity (LPC). This retrospective case-control study aims to investigate the influences of lumbosacral transitional vertebrae (LSTV) on sagittal lumbo-pelvic balance assessment and provide some recommendations for preoperative imaging evaluation. METHODS: Based on whole-body computed tomography (CT) images, a total of 210 individuals with complete segmentation anomalies of LSTV were included and divided into 23 presacral vertebrae (PSV) (sacralization, n=102), 25 PSV (lum

In Vivo Quantitative Whole-Body Perfusion Imaging Using Radiolabeled Copper(II) Bis(Thiosemicarbazone) Complexes and Positron Emission Tomography (PET).

Traditional quantitative perfusion imaging methods require complex data acquisition and analysis strategies; typically require ancillary arterial blood sampling for measurement of input functions; are limited to single organ or tissue regions in an imaging session; and because of their complexity, are not well suited for routine clinical implementation in a standardized fashion that can be readily repeated across diverse clinical sites. The whole-body perfusion method described in this chapter has the advantages of on-demand radiotracer production; simple tissue pharmacokinetics enabling stand

Clinical validation of a population-based input function for 20-min dynamic whole-body 18F-FDG multiparametric PET imaging.

PURPOSE: Contemporary PET/CT scanners can use 70-min dynamic whole-body (D-WB) PET to generate more quantitative information about FDG uptake than just the SUV by generating parametric images of FDG metabolic rate (MRFDG). The analysis requires the late (50-70 min) D-WB tissue data combined with the full (0-70 min) arterial input function (AIF). Our aim was to assess whether the use of a scaled population-based input function (sPBIF) obviates the need for the early D-WB PET acquisition and allows for a clinically feasible 20-min D-WB PET examination. METHODS: A PBIF was calculated based on AI

Does the addition of whole-body MRI to routine imaging influence real-world treatment decisions in metastatic breast cancer?

BACKGROUND: The assessment of metastatic breast cancer (MBC) can be limited with routine imaging such as computed tomography (CT) especially in bone-only or bone-predominant disease. This analysis investigates the effects of the use of WBMRI in addition to the use of routine CT, bone scintigraphy (BS) and fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography with computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) on influencing systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) decisions in patients with known MBC. METHODS: MBC patients undergoing SACT who had WBMRI undertaken within 8 weeks of either a routine CT, B
