The expression of the angiotensin-forming enzymes, renin and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), were examined in the bovine uteroplacental unit. An autoradiographic study using 55Fe was performed to investigate the distribution of iron in the ameloblasts and enamel of rat incisors. The study of methodological problems of 55Fe autoradiography revealed that in the undecalcified sections, the radiation by 55Fe within the ameloblasts and pigmented enamel produced grain scattering over the facing enamel surface and ameloblasts, respectively. Localization of tritiated vitamin A in lymph nodes of the mouse was investigated by the use of light- and electron-microscopic autoradiography. Young male mice were fed a diet containing 3H-vitamin A acetate for a week. Lymph nodes were removed and prepared for autoradiography. Lipid droplets in fibroblast-like cells showed high concentrations of radioactivity. These cells were distributed around lymphatic sinuses and blood vessels. High-throughput microarray technology has been combined with ultrasensitive and high-resolution tritium autoradiography to create a new platform for the quantitative detection of glycosyltransferase activity on glycan arrays. The skin fibroblasts from people with the inherited metabolism diseases were studied by the methods of electron microscopy, light autoradiography and morphometric analysis. Comparison of morphological and morphometric data for the structure of the protein-synthesizing apparatus of the normal and deficient fibroblasts showed a significant role of the posttranslational regulation level of the basic specific syntheses in deficient fibroblasts.

Electron microscope autoradiography has been used to compare the fucose-containing glycoproteins of normal and psoriatic epidermis. Normal keratinocytes and uninvolved psoriatic cells have most of their fucose on the plasma membrane, whereas involved psoriatic cells retain more within the cytoplasm. UNLABELLED: We demonstrated increased (18)F-FDG uptake in injured peripheral nerves in a model of neuropathic pain using small-animal PET/MRI.
METHODS: A neuropathic pain model in rats was created by spared-nerve injury of the left sciatic nerve. Sham-operated rats without nerve injury were used as a control.
