We report a case of psoriatic arthropathy complicated with HTLV-I carrier and secondary amyloidosis. She was a 45-year-old woman and was diagnosed as psoriatic arthropathy and HTLV-I carrier in December 1999. Two patients older than age 50 years had minimal amyloidosis in association with the nephrotic syndrome. The amyloid deposits in each case were so inconspicuous as to have been initially overlooked, and both biopsy specimens were thought to show minimal glomerular changes. Multiple biopsies were taken from the duodenum of 100 patients (46 active duodenal ulcer, 14 healed duodenal ulcer, 40 control subjects) to detect duodenitis, gastric metaplasia and Helicobacter pylori (Hp). The myelin basic protein (MBP) is the most abundant intracellular protein of the myelin, which forms the electrically insulating sheath of axons of many actively functioning neurons. This protein binds the opposite membranes of the flattened processes of oligodendrocytes and plays a crucial role in myelin compaction. OBJECTIVE: To examine cerebral pathologies in cerebral amyloid angiopathy in a rat model of Alzheimer's disease.
METHODS: Rat models of Alzheimer's disease was established by stereotactic Aβ1-42 fiber injection in the bilateral hippocampus. The cognitive function of the rats was evaluated with water maze test. We report a case of osteolytic polyarthritis and atlanto-axial lesion revealing multiple myeloma-associated amyloid arthropathy in a 56-year-old man.
