BACKGROUND: Patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease may suffer from a variety of symptoms from the upper aerodigestive tract. The objective of this study was to determine the impact of dual-probe 24-hr pH monitoring in the diagnosis of reflux-related otolaryngological disorders.

We present a rare case of duodenal metastasis from invasive breast lobular carcinoma, which first presented clinically as elevated serum tumor marker levels, followed by jaundice but with no other clinical evidence of recurrence and metastasis. BACKGROUND: Ampullary tumours are rare and can be separated in benign and malignant lesions. There are non-invasive diagnostic methods in order to detect ampullary tumours like abdominal ultrasound, computed tomography and MRCP (magnetic resonance cholangiopancreaticography) as well as invasive methods, e. g., gastroscopy, duodenoscopy, endosonography, intraductal ultrasound, ERCP and cholangioscopy. BACKGROUND: Oesophageal soft food bolus obstruction is a common presentation to emergency departments. Often these patients are given medication with little evidence of efficacy. Although many cases self-resolve, some require removal of the obstruction. Delay in removal can lead to complications such as oesophageal perforation and mediastinitis.
