Epiblepharon is a relatively common congenital anomaly and has to be distinguished from entropion, a rare congenital condition. Both cause trichiasis and irritation of the globe. Early surgery prevents severe ocular complications. BACKGROUND: The congenital tarsal kink syndrome is a rare form of congenital upper eyelid entropion associated with cardiovascular, musculoskeletal or central nervous system disorders. This syndrome must be recognized and surgically treated as a perinatal emergency to avoid associated complications-corneal ulcer, corneal leucoma, secondary amblyopia and decreased vision among children.
METHODS: A literature review was conducted to clarify the diagnosis particularities and the corrective surgery options of the congenital entropion on the upper eyelid.

Thirty patients with blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, strabismus and entropion were treated with botulinum A toxin giving satisfactory results. Rapid spasm relief, correction of strabismus and entropion were obtained. Only mild, transient and local side-effects occurred. The patients were followed up for 4-12 weeks with no recurrence. The clinical results show that local injection of a minute dose of botulinum A toxin in treating blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, strabismus and entropion is a safe, effective and simple method of nonsurgical therapy.

A severe corneal ulceration that is evident shortly after birth and persists in spite of adequate medical therapy, may be secondary to a congenital entropion. A vertically kinked tarsus is an unusual and frequently overlooked form of congenital entropion. Prompt recognition of this entity is essential to avoid severe corneal injury and amblyopia. We present a technique of tarsal stabilization which corrected this upper lid deformity in one case.

Lymphoma is the commonest orbital malignancy. The typical presentation is proptosis or swelling, which warrants imaging and confirmation by tissue biopsy. Enophthalmos is a much rarer clinical sign and if bilateral and symmetrical can often present late. We describe a patient who presented with bilateral enophthalmos and symptomatic, secondary entropion due to bilateral non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in which orbital fat was replaced by a monoclonal proliferation of small B cells. Low-dose orbital radiotherapy and entropion surgery relieved the patient's symptoms.

PURPOSE: Eight million people have trachomatous trichiasis (TT). The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends entropion surgery for TT regardless of severity. However, epilation is widely practiced for treating minor TT (1-5 lashes touching the globe). We report the frequency and effectiveness of patient-initiated epilation and its relationship to corneal opacity.

A case with Möbius' facial diplegia is described; the syndrome is characterized by bilateral congenital paralysis of the mimic muscles often associated with paralysis of the abductors of both eyes, convergent strabismus, palsy of sublingual and trigeminal nerve motor branch. This first observation of the syndrome in Russia is uncommon due to a congenital lower lid entropion which is considered untypical of this rare condition. Still, the authors do not rule out a pathogenetic relationship between entropion and other manifestations of the syndrome.
