Third-octave sound analysis was performed on the snoring sounds of nine subjects with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and 18 with simple snoring. There is limited literature regarding wing tip edema (WTE) in raptors, and much of our current understanding of the condition is based on anecdotal reports. The aims of this retrospective study were to describe the clinical features of WTE in birds of prey, to identify prognostic factors for return to flight and patient survival following diagnosis, and to develop and assess the clinical significance of a novel WTE grading system. AIMS: To examine sun protection among New Zealand children (ten years and under) at beaches and playgrounds.
METHODS: In the summers of 1998, 1999 and 2000, observations were made of 753 children at selected beaches and playgrounds in Dunedin and Hawkes Bay to determine the extent of sun protection. Parents/carers were also interviewed about sun protection.
