Development and evaluation of a mental health recovery priority measure for cross-cultural research: global INSPIRE.

PURPOSE: This study developed and evaluated a new personal recovery scale—Global INSPIRE—in English and Japanese, and compared responses between Japan and the UK. Personal recovery—living a satisfying and meaningful life despite mental health challenges—has gained attention in mental health. The widely-used CHIME framework identifies five recovery processes: Connectedness, Hope, Identity, Meaning, and Empowerment. Full INSPIRE evaluates whether service users feel supported in each CHIME process. However, emerging cross-cultural evidence indicates differences in the priority placed on each CHIM

Should disability-inclusive health be a priority in low-income countries? A case-study from Zimbabwe.

The National Disability Policy was launched in Zimbabwe in June 2021 and includes a range of commitments for the provision of disability-inclusive health services and rehabilitation. Fulfilment of these pledges is important, as at least 7% of the population have disabilities, and people with disabilities face greater challenges accessing healthcare services and experience worse health outcomes. However, it will require financial investment which is challenging as the needs of people with disabilities are set against a background of widespread health systems failures in Zimbabwe, exacerbated by

Establishing research and translation priorities and care pathways for families where a parent lives with mental ill health.

Service users and carers have recently had input into establishing mental health research and translation priorities in Australia. This study extends that work to include the voice of those with lived experience of parental mental ill health. Although, parental mental ill health is a global public health issue there is a substantial gap in knowing the research and implementation priorities for parents and their families. This study sought to establish the priorities that families with lived experience of parental mental ill health have for support and intervention, along with what social facto

Advancing the measurement of caregiver impact: Data collection priorities aligned with caregiver, health technology assessment, and policy stakeholders.

BACKGROUND: Family caregiving plays a central role in the US health care system, with substantial economic, health, and policy implications. In 2024, the estimated economic value of unpaid caregiving exceeded $1 trillion, with tens of millions of individuals providing care nationwide. However, caregiver impacts are inconsistently measured and rarely incorporated into clinical evidence, economic evaluations, and health technology assessments, limiting their use in coverage, formulary, and policy contexts. As a result, health care decision-making may not fully capture the broader benefits, costs

Do national health priorities align with Global Burden of Disease estimates on disease burden? An analysis of national health plans and official governmental websites.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the alignment of national health priorities with a country's burden of disease as measured by disability-adjusted life years (DALYs). METHODS: We identified priorities in national health plans and the 20 most burdensome conditions measured by DALYs from the 2017 Global Burden of Disease Study. We computed point-biserial correlations (rpb) between DALYs and being nominated as a health priority and the pooled proportion (95% confidence intervals [CIs]) of the 20 most burdensome conditions nominated as a priority across countries. RESULTS: We identified national health
