In the cases of lung extensive resections the method of choice is the diaphragm transfer (diaphragmopexia) and filling of cervical pleura with biological materials, which considerably decrease the volume of pleural cavity, prevent the overextension of pulmonary parenchyma and that's why contribute to decrease in the number of post-operation complications and recurrences of pulmonary tuberculosis.

Clopidogrel is a platelet aggregation inhibitor that increases the risk of bleeding complications when combined with acetylsalicylic acid. We report a rare case of a 79-year-old male treated with clopidogrel and acetylsalicylic acid after coronary angioplasty and stenting to treat unstable angina. Contralateral hemothorax after subclavian vein cannulation is a rare complication of this procedure. We report one case of acute contralateral hemothorax due to perforation of the superior vena cava during left subclavian vein cannulation for hemodialysis. Perforation was attributed to the forced insertion of the skin dilator, which was accidentally pushed too far. Chest pain began immediately after perforation and was followed, a few minutes later, by hemodynamic instability. The signs and symptoms described in this report may serve to warn of the possibility of this complication.

rFVIIa is at present the most progressive treatment in different haemorrhages and operations in patients with haemophilia A and a high titre of inhibitor. As apparent from the presented case of a 4-year-old boy with haemorrhage into the pleural cavity, rFVIIa is sufficiently effective to induce haemostasis, while it is safe and has no side-effects. It does not induce systemic activation of haemostasis. Its application requires, due to the high price, that all criteria should be met which were elaborated for the Slovak Republic in the National centre of haemostasis and thrombosis.

The haematothorax not induced by a trauma is very uncommon in childhood. Its presence may be the leading symptom of a malignant tumour that needs further investigation, but a correct diagnosis cannot always be made before thoracotomy. We report on 3 cases which had been operated on for suspected malignant disease, but in 1 case we found a diaphragmatic hernia, in another one an extralobal sequestration of the lung and only in the third patient a malignant teratoma. The diagnostic and therapeutic procedure of a spontaneous haemothorax is discussed.

A 34-year-old woman developed fever, dyspnea, and hypoxemia 8 days after vaginal delivery and was treated for pyelonephritis with bacteremia. The right dominant pleural effusion was initially clear and transudative, suggesting a systemic postpartum cause. Pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) can worsen in pregnant women due to pregnancy-related physiological changes. If a PAVM ruptures, it can become life-threatening. A 24-year-old female patient at 22 weeks of gestation presented to the hospital with chest pain and dyspnea. BACKGROUND: Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) encompasses a group of immune-mediated disorders that are gaining increasing recognition. Pulmonary presentations are common, with four types of patterns been described on radiography, including solid nodular, bronchovascular, ground glass opacities, and alveolar interstitial. Pleural thickening and pleural effusion have also been reported. However, there have been no reports of IgG4-RD that presents as spontaneous hemothorax.

Common bleeding manifestations after viperine bite include bleeding from site of bite, bleeding gums, epistaxis, hemoptysis, hematuria, hematemesis, and intracranial bleed. Bleeding in the adrenal gland is a rare manifestation. We report here a patient of viperine bite who developed right adrenal hematoma and right hemothorax after 3 days of bite. To the best of our knowledge this is the first case report of adrenal hematoma and right hemothorax after Echis carinatus bite.

Bilateral re-expansion pulmonary edema (RPE) is an extremely rare entity. We report the unique case of bilateral RPE following a traumatic, unilateral hemopneumothorax in a young healthy male. Bilateral RPE occurred only one hour after drainage of a unilateral hemopneumothorax. The patient was treated with diuretics and supplemental oxygen. Diagnosis was confirmed by excluding other causes, using laboratory findings, chest radiography, pulmonary and cardiac ultrasound and high resolution computed tomography. His recovery was uneventful.
