BACKGROUND: Opioid use disorder (OUD) is a highly stigmatized, debilitating condition affecting millions in the U.S., with stigma posing a major barrier to treatment engagement, retention, and outcomes. Disparities in OUD and opioid-involved overdoses disproportionately impact marginalized communities, underscoring the urgent need for culturally-informed stigma reduction interventions that address intersecting forms of discrimination and health inequities. This review examined interventions targeting OUD-related stigma, focusing on the diversity and cultural relevance of these initiatives.

BACKGROUND: Transgender and gender diverse (TGD) people embody social and health inequalities that disproportionately affect this community more than the cisgender population. Endometriosis is a chronic condition of the reproductive tract that affects 5-10% of cisgender women. A recent systematic review with meta-analysis uncovered a pooled prevalence of 25.14% among TGD individuals undergoing gender-affirming surgeries.
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to investigate the causes of the gap in prevalence of endometriosis between the TGD community and the cisgender population.
METHODS: A systematic

BACKGROUND: Women with disabilities in Australia experience persistent inequities in accessing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. Despite accounting for 21.8% of Australian women, structural barriers in policy, clinical practice, and service delivery continue to limit equitable access. This systematic review synthesises current evidence on the structural barriers shaping SRH service use among Australian women with disabilities, highlighting unmet needs and gaps to inform policy and guide future interventions.
METHODS: A systematic search of PubMed, Europe PMC, Google Scholar, and

A substantial proportion of the estimated 178 million new fractures occurring worldwide in 2019 are complicated by fracture-related infection (FRI), with reported rates of approximately 5%. The treatment is complex, including multiple surgeries and long courses of antibiotics, and carries a high risk of recurrence. This study aimed to explore the multidimensional impacts of fracture-related infection (FRI) on patients' lives through qualitative investigations. This single-center study in China conducted qualitative semi-structured interviews with 19 patients (11 males, 8 females; age range: 23

Background/Objectives: Alzheimer's disease (AD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) share molecular features yet differ clinically, suggesting underlying systems-level commonalities. We aimed to characterize shared and disease-specific multimorbidity architectures across AD, ALS, and FTD using an artificial intelligence-driven literature-based semantic network. Methods: We applied SemNet 2.0, constructed from over 35 million PubMed abstracts, to analyze disease and syndrome (DSYN) and pharmacological substance (PHSU) nodes. Nodes were ranked using HeteSim an

This research work introduces TrafficGen, a proof-of-concept software prototype that explores the possibility of adaptive traffic signal management using LLM-based agentic orchestration. The framework is evaluated in a single-intersection, deterministic simulation environment that uses text to represent the various intersections and can operate with Gemini 2.5 Flash and LangGraph to implement a "Council of Agents" control architecture. TrafficGen uses a semantic translation layer to generate human-readable chain-of-thought reasoning logs for each signal decision, enabling it to manage complex

Minimum energy conical intersections (MECIs) are widely used to rationalize nonadiabatic relaxation pathways, yet it remains unclear to what extent they provide a representative description of the intersection seam effectively explored during dynamics. In this work, we combine large ensembles of seam points from nonadiabatic simulations with dimensionality reduction and density-based analysis to systematically investigate the structure of the accessed seam regions and its relationship to MECIs. We first establish a robust, physically-meaningful protocol for representing seam morphology across

BACKGROUND: Cancer remains a leading cause of death worldwide and continues to disproportionately impact certain populations. Several frameworks have been developed that illustrate the multiple determinants of cancer. Expanding upon the work of others, we present an applied framework for cancer prevention and control designed to help clinicians, as well as public health practitioners and researchers, better address differences in cancer outcomes.
METHODS: The framework was developed by the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network's Health Behaviors Workgroup. An initial framework draft

In the USA, gay Latino men living with HIV face compounding marginalisation within both Latino and LGBTQ communities that shapes engagement across the HIV care continuum. The role of machismo and familismo in HIV status disclosure and antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence among members of this population remains understudied, particularly in the Southern USA, where cultural values and conservative norms converge. Guided by an intersectional framework, the theory of planned behaviour, and cognitive appraisal theory, between September and October 2022, semi-structured interviews were conducted

BACKGROUND: The relationship between drug use and poor sexual health outcomes in Black adolescent females such as diagnoses of sexually transmitted infections, HIV, and early/unwanted pregnancy has been established in the literature. Yet, very few interventions have been successful in reducing the risk of poor sexual health outcomes and drug use for adolescent girls. Even more rare are interventions that are catered to specifically to Black girls in the United States, which is a group that has the highest rates of poorer sexual health outcomes and negative consequences associated with drug use

Previous studies argue that Hispanics are healthier and less likely to experience homelessness than other populations in their same socioeconomic position. However, earlier studies have not explored the relationship between housing status and health for Latin individuals. This study examines 1) the health disparities between homeless and housed Hispanics in El Paso, Texas, and 2) the Hispanic health and homelessness paradoxes using an intersectional framework to understand health risks. A large number of Hispanic residents of El Paso (N = 1152) were surveyed. Demographic, health, and housing d

BACKGROUND: Opioid-related overdose is the leading cause of death for people recently released from incarceration, however treatment with medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) during incarceration can reduce the mortality risk. This study seeks to qualitatively analyze perceptions of post-release overdose risk from the perspectives of people who received MOUD while incarcerated in one of eight Massachusetts jails during 2021-2022 using the Risk Environment Framework to guide analyses.
METHODS: N = 38 participants with lived experience of MOUD treatment during incarceration who are now li

The integration of psychedelic substances into modern Western therapeutic practice has sparked a critical examination of many topics including: efficacy of psychedelics to treat mental health diagnoses without psychotherapeutic intervention, what models of therapy to use, and ethical implications related to altered states of consciousness. Of utmost concern are issues of power dynamics leading to incidents of sexual abuse. These issues underscore the importance of understanding therapeutic dynamics within the context of psychedelic-assisted therapy. This paper aims to explore these intersectio

This paper explores the importance of adopting a broader perspective and applying lessons learned from response and recovery efforts to establish a more adaptive incident command system (ICS) approach to recovery and resilience. The National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) has been used since its introduction in 2004 to a consistent nationwide framework and approach to enable government at all levels (federal, state, tribal, local), the private sector and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to work together to prepare for, prevent, respond to, recover from and mitigate the effects of inci

This qualitative narrative study investigates how social services among African immigrant youth in Toronto can be reimagined and provided in intersectional ways that are just and responsive to their specific and unique needs. The study interviewed 6 African Youths living in Toronto. The study employed an eclectic theory to argue for reimagining of policy that drive homelessness in Canada. The themes that came out of this study are: Homelessness is not African, The walls are squeezing me: Intersectional homelessness. African values and spiritualities are my survival tactic and policy resolution

PURPOSE: Disability stigma is a key under-addressed driver of health inequalities among persons with disabilities, including barriers to accessing rehabilitation. Many studies conflate disability stigma and health stigma despite the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) distinguishing between the concepts of "disability" and a "health condition." This paper applies the ICF to identify the conceptual boundaries between disability stigma and health stigma.
METHOD: This paper comprises a conceptual review of the disability and health stigma literature. The ICF

CONTEXT: Health and care workers' well-being is critical for comprehensive human resources for health (HRH) planning. However, system-wide factors such as wage disparities and career advancement barriers remain underexplored, while most existing planning frameworks focus on gender, ignoring other interactions shaping the HRH experiences.
OBJECTIVE: To systematically map literature on adverse HRH experiences, underlying inequalities and the resulting impact using an intersectional equity lens.
METHODS: A rigorous scoping protocol was developed which guided the search in four bibliographic dat

Breast tumor segmentation is an important step in the diagnostic procedure of physicians and computer-aided diagnosis systems. We propose a two-step deep learning framework for breast tumor segmentation in breast ultrasound (BUS) images which requires only a few manual labels. The first step is breast anatomy decomposition handled by a semi-supervised semantic segmentation technique. The input BUS image is decomposed into four breast anatomical structures, namely fat, mammary gland, muscle and thorax layers. Fat and mammary gland layers are used as constrained region to reduce the search space

Disputes and polarization at the intersection of agriculture, food, health and the environment are impeding food system transformation towards sustainability. Engagement of scientists in complex controversies along with other actors-especially in transdisciplinary approaches that recognize values and interests, build on disagreements and enable ideas to evolve-can foster collective knowledge and intelligence, reduce polarization and generate multi-sectoral innovation. Here a framework is presented for increasing the contribution of scientists to actionable knowledge and improving science-polic

INTRODUCTION: Urban intersections with restricted visibility are among the most hazardous conditions for interactions between cyclists and vehicles, as delayed mutual perception and limited maneuvering margins significantly increase the risk of severe collisions.
METHOD: This study addresses these challenges by developing an integrated simulation framework that combines a digital model of real intersections with a micro-simulation model calibrated using cyclist and driver field-collected trajectories. The SUMo simulation framework includes Python APIs that reproduce reciprocal visual percepti
